A short critique from :

I can fully understand the scanner issue... Personally I always have to edit the photos I take of my drawings to get the colors right. Gimp is a good and free program to do that. I also take photos instead of scanning, since my own scanner is also terrible...

To the artwork. I love the bird and the blurred background! The prepositions look good to me, and I love all the detail on the feathers! The eye is also stunning!

To the things you could improve. I would try to blur the white spots in the background a little more, especially on the back of the birds. The upper part of the background is generally not as blurred as the lower part.

All in all this is really stunning drawing of a stunning bird! I love the feathers, especially on the head Keep it up!

It's a beautiful drawing and the colours look fine to me, however another option is to lie the art on the floor and use a camera. I have found this a better method that a scanner (when I do do any trad art ). My scanner is dreadful and I picked this idea up from another artist.
