It's funny, I've written a shipfic of my own on another site, and one of my favorite comments goes is "X with X is my OTP for life, but if I had to pick a straight pairing for her to be a part of this would be it" Which I still consider a compliment, but I find it amusing that it basically translates to "if I had to pick a dude".

Awsome artstuffs, I know I'm probably really late on this, but I've come back to this pic a bunch of times, and I've really enjoyed it.
Y'know what REALLY sold me on this pairing is how "dry" Lapis is in all her recent interactions, I've not seen a whole bunch of it in fan stuff but the fact that that really contrasts to Jamie's over-emotion (kinda like with garnet I guess) makes me think this could be played up really well.
Funny little story about this pairing and people hating on straight ships, I remember reading a comment on a fanfic shipping these two that went. "This pairing is stupid and Hetro for no reason." and I felt sorely tempted to reply to that comment saying "Y'know what else is Hetro for no reason? THIS GUY! *Points to himself*"

Yeah I get where you're coming from, sometimes when I go back and read stuff I've written I end up wanting to take a shotgun to it. Luckily the worst of it is lost to the dark mists of time and the internet.
I'd say I don't see Lapis as "moody" she seems more or less content with her life now, she just doesn't seem super expressive (thousands of years in a mirror and being trapped at the bottom of the sea has probably left her with little socialization skills.)

Is it weird that I don't really mind using Tumblr and think the fandom hatred for fans on Tumblr is a bit much? Don't get me wrong, there are DEFINITELY dinks on there. The thing is, I don't really see a lot of them on there. Granted, I don't use Tumblr all day everyday day, but from my past experiences the bad fans are only in a small minority. A very VOCAL minority, but still a minority. I know a good number of SU fans on Tumblr who are genuinely good people.
I don't know, maybe it's my inner Steven wanting to see good in everything.
