Description Now, regarding this deviation, there are several things that made me do it:
-> the approval of warrior1944 over little Pyrates Skeleton Crew figurines that I own - you can see them here: 4 Skeleton Crew members around the table calendar
-> a deviation of ScurvypiratehogCaptain Dread eye
-> the fact that this fellow, like King Vradek and the Black Guards of Dark Messiah, needs more recognition out here
-> being my childhood favorite of Skeleton Crew (and even though the franchise is long-gone, he is still high on my favorites list of Pyrates Skeletons

Now this scurvy sea dog is really someone you need to fear. He is the traitorous first mate of Lord Pyrate himself and thus was turned into the skeleton because of that as well, but after being turned, he had gone from being the first mate to being a captain of the dreaded (and really amazing-looking) ghostly ship named Phantom (that kind of reminds me of the Flying Dutchman, only done in bone, flotsam and mysterious blue substance that also compromises the blade of his special cursed sword). But at the end, he was betrayed himself by his own first mate and as a kind of really epic way to sacrifice his ship and avenge this mutiny, he and his own first mate (Shoveltooth) casted each other down the ship`s special deck "mouth" where usually live pirates go in order to "feed" the ship with their energy (and turning skeletal as a consequence) ... and thus blowing it up.
But still, no matter if he`s not alive anymore, he`s still someone that is able to instill fear unto almost anyone. Heh, you can even see why is he called like he is called in here. I actually wished to get his ship (in toy form) in order to get him, but it was too expensive and too big. Oh well.

Green pants because he is from the 2nd series of toys

Wish to see his prologue? Watch this www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFFyN8… Even though the skull already hints on it all. I have it as a model though, unlike this rugged son of a sea dog

Captain Dread Eye -> Pyrates -> Mega Bloks

Awesome, I give you full kudos for still owning his ship and some of the crew! I tried to get it as well when it was on sale, but it`s both too big and too expensive, thus I never got to get this guy in a minifigure form at all. Seriously, you rock there as well ... and thank you very much, since I tried my hardest to give this guy as much justice as I can. He is my favorite Skeleton Crew member beside Silvermane after all! ^-^

Thanks they were hard to find along with the other ships and crew members.
And yeah even the small islands were a little pricey as well, I'm going to be keeping
the ships for along time. You did great on the Captain looks awesome now you should
do Silvermane and Rattlebones

I`m completely believing you there. Bloody ships~ Completely as well and it`s actually via those small islands & Skull Caves that I had gotten my 5 Skeleton Crew members I`m still keeping on my shelf after all this time from, since they were cheap and small enough to get them in the 1st place.
Silvermane, I can do, but Rattlebones? I`m afraid that one will be tough because the Net doesn`t seem to have the full-body picture of him unlike Dread Eye. In Silvermane`s case, I have his minifigure, thus I can do him as well.

That maybe difficult then but still can't wait for Silvermane

I had found the Skull Caves being on sale in local toy store when they were still on sale, but nowadays ... not anymore~ :C I got Maroon Gally and Mutiny Isle when I was able to get them because ... yeah.
Silvermane is a go then! Also one of the skeletal survivors as well, which makes him that much more awesome if you ask me.

I have pirates cove Coffers Trap, Maroon Gally, the marotors ship, and the shark one, its a blue shark red eyes scar down its left side, and two guys on a raft can't remember its name lol. And that sucks that we can't find them anymore they were fun to collect and keep

You bet he's a go and I would think so to

The blue shark one kind of sounds like Shark Escape and yeah, pity there are no more of them. I know I would see them return back and I bet that Mega Bloks would get quite a lot of cash back if they get those dudes back into the market as well as Dragons. And you got the Stormstalker there? Lucky!

Say, had you followed the link where I had shown all 4 Skeleton Crew minifigs to the world?

Damn right they will, and really? Nicely done about that as well, myself I mostly got at least 1 "specimen" from each Dragons franchise - Dragons, Dragons: Metal Ages, Dragons: Fire & Ice, Plasma Dragons & Dragons Universe. Pity that Mega Bloks turns their websites off as well once these franchises run their courses as well~ for this reason I don`t wish to buy anything beside them going into fandoms I don`t like at all. :c
The link is in the description, so knock yourself out

You sir have done a great service to the world by doing this. These toys were my childhood, and I still have and play with them every so often. I had the pleasure of actually getting this dude and he was awesome indeed. Very good representation of him, a fine sword job, and just everything about it captures his eerie essence.

More people need to know about these toys. Can you believe they are 10 years old this year? Time flies. They redid a few 5 years ago, as you mention, where the green pants come from. I thought all the redesigned ones were dumb with their miscolorations and such, but I see now that green pants actually look awesome on him.

You oughta draw more of the Pyrates. I don't think anyone has. And believe it or not, these toys are so old that the Phantom was released a year before Dead Man's Chest hit theaters. So us who know of the toys can safely say that Disney ripped off Mega Bloks.

Dreamer-In-Shadows In reply to JasonBall34 [2015-01-26 13:57:37 +0000 UTC]

Oh boy, what just happened to the aforementioned comment I posted a while ago in here?! Damn you, dA, for that and I`m really sorry about it.

But else, thank you very very much, seeing as this site has a severe dang shortage of these beside the previously-mentioned Dark Messiah ones (that have the actual luck in them being the majority over this pretty unlucky franchise that got forgotten pretty fast, it seems :/ ), me only able to find the ones I had referenced in the description of this deviation and it being so obscure, I had noticed that even the info of the entire thing is pretty much scattered around like leaves of autumn. And high-five for another fan of these toys, it`s really heartwarming to know that I`m not the only one in here that absolutely loves these!
Boy, congratulations on getting him, as it was my dream to get him as well, but the set he had came has been both too expensive and too big for my family`s budget (as at the time these came I was but a careless teenager and didn`t have my own bank account even in real life) and for the residence I`m currently living. And it`s just that essence and freakiness I wished to capture for others to see as well, since these 2 made me fall over the guy, beside him actually being one of these Captains that seem to care for his crew, unlike his living opponent Captain Sabrehook (that was pretty hilarious in the added movie, I admit that ), only Shoveltooth being his most hated as soon as he betrayed him. And probably Brine as well, heh.

Damn right, more people need to know about these toys indeed, even if we can only get them on EBay as of now! and really? Wow, time, indeed flies and now I would bloody hope of Mega Bloks to actually try to re-awake this franchise again, seeing as we have survivors of the entire ordeal and no matter if Skeleton Crew would be in the background because their Captain sacrificed the ship with them, it would still be awesome to get them all! But really, after I had seen the areas they started to go toward ... yeah, not much hope for the company overall.
Haha, believing you, even though the initial gray pants kind of looked plain for me, to be honest, and dark green pants were actually kind of appropriate, seeing as they resemble the color of rotting seaweed we at times see on the beach, but hey, I`m not blaming you about miscolorations at all It`s like Mega Bloks rushed with them if you ask me, since I`ve heard that LEGO sued them for the designs of blocks and minifigs, even though they actually updated the bloody minifigs and made them more awesome to boot, only LEGO couldn`t swallow it at all. If you ask me about that, of course. Hell, apparently newer sets had a lot of typos as well on the package boxes

I would legitimately say that both companies ripped specific things off each other, but also invented new things to boot, like they were competing in "who-would-have-the-most-original-ripped-off-versions" XD But yeah, the Flying Dutchman kind of (partially) resembles the Phantom, only them being made of different materials and have differently mangled crew, if we could refer to them like that. And many thanks for the encouragement, it`s people like you that keep my inspiration going and for that, I`ll be glad to hit the digital programs again and draw more of these bastards as time goes by, no matter if I would probably draw more Skeleton Crew ones than actual living ones, seeing as I`m not good with overall human anatomy. But oh well

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JasonBall34 In reply to Dreamer-In-Shadows [2015-02-04 02:57:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I suppose both ships draw influence from the same urban legends of ghost ships and stuff.

Yes, there were many typos on the 2011 sets I noticed. Crew flags were mixed up or even flipped around, and names were way wrong.

I think the different colors were an attempt to mix things up a bit. The skeletons look like they were taking a mud-bath, and its not necessarily a bad thing. If Dread Eye wants green pants, so be it. He changed his clothes or something after 5 years, I suppose.

Lego sued them a couple decades ago when MB first started for having blok similarities. It was insane how similar they were. Then they changed the pieces to more specialized detailed awesome pieces and their people evolved into the fully posable Pyrates we knew and loved.

Money was a little better for my family growing up, so I'm thankful for that. Way before the economy went ca-put. (Have you heard that phrase?)

A cool Captain Cutlass/Sabrehook (they have the same mold just different colors) drawing in this style would be epic. I really liked that animated movie as well, where every few minutes the captain yells angrily and throws a crewman into the sea.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dreamer-In-Shadows In reply to JasonBall34 [2015-02-04 10:28:28 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, since the Flying Dutchman legend is really old as well and not just as old as Wagner`s opera, so in a sense we kind of rip off old legends, even though they would not be called like that at all in modern times

Oh yes. Like Captain Dreadeyes? Guess the company really rushed there.

Completely and for a captain, anyone would except to have a wardrobe somewhere on his ship or whatnot, even though this thinking is also kind of pointless, seeing as he`s a living skellie and whatnot and funny that you say that, since on many websites it says that their new bone coloration is supposed to resemble bones still stained with bits of flesh, but hey, your theory is kind of funnier, seeing as they are unlikely to take a mud-bath and yet they would probably take it anyway if it would help against other crews LOL

I see, thanks for the info

Aye, I`ve heard it and not just during the time when I was learning German Bloody economical crysis and thieves on high positions -_-;

Then I`ll try to see what I can do about that.
Haha, ditto, as he was both overly serious and hilarious at the same time, especially if he "accidentally" bumps his hand against the crewman and make him fall either on the deck or right into the sea. LOL

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JasonBall34 In reply to Dreamer-In-Shadows [2015-02-05 04:36:55 +0000 UTC]

Oh, were they bits of flesh? I didn't know that. That's disgusting.

The "flesh" paint on those new skeletons was so thick and stuff that if you left a figure out without touching it for a week, when you went to turn his head it would be stuck and you'd have to work it to free it from the stuckness caused by the paint. That makes the flesh theory even more gross. Ick.

I'm sure his crew decided to stay away from him from then on when he was speaking and gesturing. "Oh no! He's waving his arms again! Everybody run!" lol.

Dreamer-In-Shadows In reply to JasonBall34 [2015-02-05 09:01:59 +0000 UTC]

Apparently they`re supposed to represent that, but I don`t know any better, seeing as I never bought anything from their 2011 reboot series~

Ewwwww!! Ok, this is the point where I say that they definitely used too much flesh-colored paint right there O_O Rushing. Never a good thing with those things, especially if you`re painting the most articulating minifigure everyone had ever seen.

LOL oh yes. No wonder why we have such crews like the Mutineers

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JasonBall34 In reply to Dreamer-In-Shadows [2015-02-06 01:34:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Pretty crusty paint.\\

[Isn't it annoying when you reach for the enter key and hit the backslash key right above it? Especially on laptops its an issue.]

Those fleshy skeleton dudes remind of the zombie-like ReDeads from a few Zelda games if you've ever played them. They are the most horrifying things you'll ever see in a video game rated E for Everyone back in 1998. They scream and leach the life out of you, looking very much like a creepy rapist as you stand helpless, gurgling as they constrain you.

But anyways, uh, hang on. [barfs upon thinking about horrible childhood experiences with the zombies playing Ocarina of Time]

Nah, just kidding.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dreamer-In-Shadows In reply to JasonBall34 [2015-02-06 07:18:38 +0000 UTC]

I wonder how good it actually was/is. The paint, I mean, beside that little gross thing.
[LOLyes, even though that never happened to me and I`m writing on laptops for quite a while already But can happen]

Yikes, now that you had mentioned them and I had to check on them since I hadn`t played any Zelda games~ agreeing there. Grotesque, disturbing and "I NEED AN ADULT" horror right there and that even in a game rated E? Boy, that`s quite ballzy for a company, but hey, everything in the past was kind of ballzy when putting disturbing things into our favorite games, especially when regarding undead, as it seems that the most disproportionate number of nightmare fuel come from the other side of the Great Beyond.

Hehe!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JasonBall34 In reply to Dreamer-In-Shadows [2015-02-12 01:38:16 +0000 UTC]

the paint looked great. It just felt weird.

Yeah, Ocarina of Time had some disturbing things. For the remake a few years ago, the rating was upped to Everyone 10+ for stuff like that. You oughta play it. But that's off-topic. Is that okay? I could easily go on and on about blood, gore, and creepy dead hands sticking out of poison gas on the ground in that game,... Oh wait, I just did.

Dreamer-In-Shadows In reply to JasonBall34 [2015-02-12 11:30:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see. Boy, next time I should be more enthusiastic when trying to buy a product from a remake.

Eh, it`s ok. You wouldn`t have believed how many off-topics did I cracked with other people in here, especially when regarding fandoms that I`m familiar with. One time I had spoken to a person about nightmare fuel you find in Might and Magic VI ... it spinned out into a topic about undead that appear in various games, including Hammer Haunts from Thief and pretty freaky Zombies from Quake + Mutants from Wolfenstein 3D. It was really fun

Yeah. Other than looks though, I have to say, they sucked. Plastic quality went way down.

Well, I guess other people have tendencies to advertise zombie enemies as well. Fascinating. I wonder why people like horror games. Why would someone WANT to be scared out of their wits, be it zombies or cute animatronics in a diner.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dreamer-In-Shadows In reply to JasonBall34 [2015-02-12 20:07:18 +0000 UTC]

Especially on Lost Souls?

Hmmm, in that way I would say that people love horror games just because if they get scared they also get adrenaline rush and get more thrilled in continuing the said games. If you ask me, of course. Double more if they provide Easter Eggs as well and people are eager to see them for themselves~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JasonBall34 In reply to Dreamer-In-Shadows [2015-02-17 20:06:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, the Lost Souls plastic sucked from the outset. Ask any single person who had any of them and they'll probably tell you they broke somewhere.

So you think horror game makers put cool stuff in there to find so people will buy it even if they hate horror games? Sounds devious and awfully sinister enough to be a legitimate business strategy to me...

One of these thoughts indeed. Just look at 5 Nights at Freddy`s, even if it doesn`t include Easter Eggs ... that I yet know about.

I hear its got a lot of hidden things and lore stuff, like newspaper clippings, posters, and such that are apparently really cool and detailed and worth looking at. The problem is that if you stare and examine something on your security camera for too long, when you look up from the camera there is a cutesy friendly-looking animatronic there to tear you apart and stuff. But yeah, no easter eggs themselves I've heard of.

Are you just always online, lurking, watching, waiting for people to comment?

Did this bro of yours play with it in a normal fashion or did it just sit there? I imagine something you never touch wouldn't break.

Nope, this time is pretty much cheated on, as I have college as well + family matters and taking care of my own chores. And don`t think I`m just watching for new comments, you should check the number of favorites I had made it in here and other things I had done, like deviations and journals, even if this doesn`t include participation in forums or beta-testing stuff. ... LOL, if you put it that way~

I mean that whenever the new game comes up, it`s almost guaranteed that once someone beats it, he/she`ll make a wiki of it and list all Easter Egs he/she might have caught for the others to see, thus kind of ruining the surprise

LOL that too. It`s pretty funny as well as a major pain in the head when it happens. Like the world is corrupted with that >.<~

No ideas myself, since I like the original dA logo better as well and the new logo gives me the vibe of inequality.

Have you ever heard of Leonard Nimoy? The guy who played Spock on Star Trek? He died.

I think the logo is a capital A but cut off on the right, and they tried to incorporate a D, but failed epically, resulting in a nub stuck to half an A. But I have no clue what it was meant to be.

Do you like spoilers, or waiting for the actual thing?
