You don't understand until you've experienced the wind whipping past your face at dozens of miles an hour, or soaring thousands of paws above the earth or diving towards it and catching yourself at the very last second, or swooping below clouds and through them and above them, or taking one breath on the ground and the next high above it. The freedom wings bring is a joy known only to those of us with them, but it needn't always stay that way.
