now with new and improved art, and a few more interesting design traits!
continuing my intention of giving each centaur proper pant options, lmao

... okay so when I sat down to just poke at the lines a bit "before bed" I really did not intend to just finish the whole dang thing, lol
but this was LONG overdue so I am SO glad to finally have it and be able to stop sending the old outdated not pretty one to people I want art from :'DD

~~~

• joel's family moved to ontario from jamaica when him and his brother were young, so go home to visit family every so often but lack much accent

• joel started out as a hobbyist photographer in his spare time, wandering in nature, and capturing little moments and things that he sees, but eventually started taking on small gigs and doing it professionally
(he's also the photographer jay and zodiac hire at their wedding ♥)

• he loves food so started working at a bakery, where he met his mate, jesse~
she was a frequent customer who'd hang around and talk to him a lot, and they both secretly started crushin' on each other, so eventually after fishing out the fact that he was single n ready to mingle, she left him her number, they hung out and immediately clicked like soulmates, moved in together after a few months, got engaged after a year, live super happily together forever, and eventually adopt an atavian ('angel') named hawke, a deaf centaur with tourrette's by the name of dawson, a troubled elf/human who renames themself sawyer, and then go through an in-vitro pregnancy later on to have gabriel, the bio son of jesse and a stranger's donation :3c

• he eventually becomes the manager of said bakery, and buys it when the current one retires and passes it on

• they're both christian (... but like the good kind who are chill about everything)

• jesse is naturally crepuscular (most active and awake at dusk), whereas joel is completely diurnal, so they have an interesting time making their clashing sleep schedules work lol

• they both proposed at the same time on a picnic at the very remote top of a mountain, with similar looking rings, thinking they were both being SO SO sneaky lol

more fun facts:

• he likes trying new foods (especially spicy stuff)

• he's taken a class here and there but never got a full degree in anything, unlike jamie who's learning a lot of nerd stuff to become a teacher (just never felt inclined to go, and was fine working his nice bakery job instead)

• his dad's name is kingsley and their mom is angela, and I have cute stuff to draw of em all sometime

• his hair is a lot like funforlouis/louis cole's (refs here )

• he loves literally everything about jesse but especially the fact that she's so spontaneous and adventurous and pushes him to try so many new things

• his birthday is april 4th 1992 - jesse is two years older than him

• he got his piercing the same time that jamie got his, when they were younger - they got 'em done together

• neither joel nor his brother are related to okapi; centaurs with african heritage simply tend to have stripey legs and darker fur, just as they tend to have darker skin

ps that headshot ended up lookin nearly identical to my brother and I only realized when it was done askljfdsl so that's just how it be now
(this happened with jamie too before I coloured his |'D)
pps back in the day I thought it was funny I got more attached to this dude than his brother since jamie is the best friend of chester who I considered one of the 'main' story dudes, and thought that joel would be a 'minor' character lol (that didn't last)
ppps I'm so glad that jesse showed up and breathed fresh life into joel and now their folder is overflowing with stufffff :'))

I was gonna design a whole separate ring for him but in the end just... didn't feel like doing that right now lol so for now he'll keep the same one jesse has. that's fine tho, they had both discussed loving amethysts and hating diamonds, so it'd end up lookin similar anyway

also, this is the art that kickstarted a certain aspect of my rim lighting style when I saw how his leg blended too much into his belly so separated 'em a bit ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
