updated to fix up, add, and change a few things! \o/
(developed him so hard all at once last year that within a single month of having done his first ref, it became outdated lmao. so did his modern version very quickly but only got around to redoing this one just recently)

went to poke the lines for fun before some owed work and oops the whole thing is done now. funny how that happens ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿
longest taking ref I've done in a whiiileeeee, since I put effort into slowing down my lines again and making them neater as I used to, and some other little different style things than usual including making an exception to my "NO SHADED REFS" rule on the leftmost one cause I felt it deserved some light shading touches :3c
took somewhere over six hours rather than the 3-ish I'd been gettin used to and I'm pleasedd~
and feel like my inspirations are pretty obvious in this one haha

anyway he's anotherr DnD character, surprise! xD one who is EXTREMELY fun to play oh my gosh

he also belongs to my own world, and that ref is here:

• he's an arcane trickster/sorcerer (aberrant reflavoured as 'fey') kitsune who can shift between feral and humanoid form, is playful, mischievous, happy-go-lucky, and loves constantly flirting with all kinds of people~

• he's the son of inari the fox goddess, and a mortal man who served and fell in love with her. both raised him in the feywild, where he lived and grew up til his father naturally passed of old age (something even powerful spirits struggle to prevent), at which point his mother returned to her duties and kai decided to wander off to his father's birth realm to see what his homeplane was like
she still casts 'sending' or sends letters every so often to see what he's up to

• his spirit/fey lineage is the source of his natural affinity for the arcane. he focuses mostly on illusory and enchantment magics and excels at both, using them to get what he wants or remove himself from risky situations without a drop of blood loss on either side

• he's vague "young adult" in kitsune years, the equivalent of roughly 19, though is likely more around 50 but probably doesn't keep track of that

• he's mostly gay but that line inherently blurs when you add extremely un-humanoid monsterfolk into the mix lol
if it's big and strong, interesting, sapient enough... he cares much less what it identifies as |'D

• the arm/shoulder/thigh fluff is optional - he gets a bit fluffier for the colder months and then sheds it out in the spring

he's a homebrewed kitsune, so his racial features are 1) shifting to fox or humanoid form a number of times per long rest as his proficiency bonus, where he can't use magic other than 2) his innate minor illusion cantrip; both forms have both 3) darkvision and 4) advantage on perception checks based on hearing :3c

his stats are:

8 str
18 dex
8 con
12 wis
12 int
18 cha

... so basically a twinky twig that WILL fall over if you so much as blow on him,
but crazy good at avoiding said hits via spells, roguish features, high dex, and the 'lucky' feat ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

and his skills include acrobatics, sleight of paw, stealth (expertise), arcana, insight, perception (expertise), performance, AND persuasion. very skilled little man

I also plan on doing a 2v2 combat vs my brother ft. kai fighting from emil's back, who I've also spent more time with on his dnd version - I never expected those two to get along as well as they do, but they make Excellent besties and the romantic interest between him and alastair's soul within emil is interesting ouo
