Description
Graphomya maculata is a species of diptera (order of insects including flies, horseflies, mosquitoes ...) of the family Muscidae.

Very widespread in Europe, this species also lives in North Africa and the Near East. They live in wetlands and are observable from May to October.

The larvae feed on other dipteran larvae while the adults are foragers. The abdomen of the male is yellow-orange speckled with black, while that of the female is gray speckled with black.
