Nope, it's not an anime. It's adorable, but it's not an anime. If it were both, Zim would probably quit the biz. Maybe too many people thought it was an anime and then Zim quit so they couldn't make more eps. jklol

I totally agree with you. Invader Zim and all of Jhonen's creations should stay the way they are. I mean when you draw Invader Zim characters as an anime it takes the fun out of them. Big heads are funny. And I love the expression on GIR's face it's just priceless.
message for all who draw Zim as an anime: Stick to Jhonen's style it looks better.

Okay I can't understand why you would be mad at people drawing ZIM how they want to. I mean its fanart you can choose how you want to draw your fanart and any characters in the fanart. Thats what is so wonderful about art! I can understand that it gets annoying, but that isn't a reason to be rude. People are going to draw what they want, how they want so you might as well get over it. I don't mean to sound rude and I apologize if I do sound rude. I like the picture you did a very good job at copying Jhonen's style.

invader zim is one cartoon i dont draw in anime style, manily cause its hard to draw a good anime zim that hasnt had his porportions thrown completly off DX so i draw the actually style X3

Totally agree that it's not anime. Though It's considered to be because of the anime-ish undertones and brief anime stuff in the show. But it's like SUPER brief. Like in a site a read, forgot the address

Once in a blue moon have I ever found an "anime" ZIM that was actually nice to look at.
Most animes should stick to anime and most cartoons should stick to cartoons. Don't cross the styles over. It's not fun. :c
(Realism is a different issue. I love seeing how a favorite character of mine might look realistically. |D)

Finally someone who agrees. I can't draw in Anime style, so why should I learn that?? I don't even want to draw caracters in Anime. It only gives me a pain in the ass.

Buuuuttt... when I do draw them, I have to distort my style multi-fold. And even then, I can't make them look semi-close to the original style. *angst* Aw, well.
What ticks me off is not when people draw Zim in anime style, its when people use anime situations. Invader Zim + Love = The World Exploding...

THANK YOU. FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS! It bugs me so much when I see Invader Zim anime style, OMG. I am an anime fan, but it still bugs the CRAP out of me when I see such an awesome and original style like Jhonen Vasquez's become un-originalized by the well-known style of anime. I DO draw anime characters in a non-anime style sometimes though, but that's just because I want to try something different. I hardly ever do it too, so yeah.

zim acutally IS a sort of anime! if you watch the comentary in one of the eps, they even state it! and at the beggining of each DVD you put in it says ANIME! in big letters,

I guess I'm tired of arguing with anime fans... i'm PRETTY sure the self-educated anime and manga masters on deviantart know muuuch much more about anime than me - mostly because it seems they have problem with recognize other styles, especially when they see the magic word: "ANIME" /Dun-dun-duun - end of senses/.
I'm pretty sick of it no matter we're talking about IZ or not....

Though this is true, many people either have problems (ability problems) drawing Zim in Jhonen's style, or their regular style is somewhat anime already, so it's just their regular style. Plus, who cares? It's just how someone draws. If you don't like it, don't look at it. I personally, don't draw ZIM animeish, though. I just draw him more rounded...
Also....as a possible explination, GIR does have the "anime eyes" when he closes them, especially when smiling, so...eh *shrug*
