Why? Why not? Also, it was sort of a commission.

What does the name mean? I think it captures the feel of the image. It's a portmanteau of lines in Firefly and Doctor Who.

Background? Was supposed to be the Cat's Eye Nebula, maybe it's just an explosion, I blame the Magic Schoolbus.

What's goin' on with Gir down there? Zim exiled him from the ship for singing. His expression remains sour because Gir hacked the ship's speakers and continues to sing.

What, no love for [your favorite space ship / series]? Seriously? F&#! you. Have ya seen how many ships are in here or the size of the image? Honestly, there were a good 10-20 ships I wanted to put in that I just didn't have the space for.

Why these ships? Well, part-way into the process, I decided I preferred keeping it just heroes and anti-heroes because there wouldn't be enough room for everything I wanted. Many are suggestions from friends and others are ones I grew up with. There's a reason certain ones are prettier than others.

Why does [meep] look all wonky? To be honest, this is a really new style for me. Zim's ship and the DBZ were how I learned to start drawing almost 15 years ago, so that's why they're the best. Similarly, my style is rubbish for CGI which is why stuff like the Normandy and Serenity look much worse.

How long di- I'm going to cut you off right there. I don't know. I lost track of time. A lot. Multiple times. Serenity alone took four episodes of Firefly to get through. I know it was over 30 hours, but I don't think 45 would be too much of a stretch.

How many layers? 1. Really? NO! Well, I had to merge it all to one layer just to get it to export. The background crashed my computer three times, so I wanted to make sure it would work. In reality, there were four background layers, one that got deleted. A few ships only used one layer, but most used two or three before getting merged, so I'd venture the original number of layers was somewhere around 40 or 50.

Can I offer some criticism? No. Honestly, I don't take criticism well and I know a lot of the things that are wrong with it already. I learn by brute forcing my way through something and doing it better next time. It's inefficient, but it's how I work.

Scale? Yep, gave up on that about four ships into the picture, that's why some are hidden behind others. The Galactica and Red Dwarf are the biggest and hence the furthest back.
