Description
Magical conditions to be outdoors shooting the early ours of dawn as the mist rolls through the New England Tablelands in Cathedral Rock National Park, NSW Australia. I was fortunate enough to have the moon on my side which helped illuminate this scene with one single exposure and capture the star trails streaking through the sky above. I wasn't phased by this image last year when I took it, but I recently uploaded it on my Facebook profile and it had quite a positive response, so here it is and now available as a fine art print at www.drewhopperphotography.comPURCHASE PRINTS FROM MY WEBSITE: [link]

Wonderful shot, and 'magical' is indeed the first word that came to mind. What shutter-speed did you use? The result is remarkable

Not my favourite Drew, but... arghh... not sure... maybe... too much sky. The quality is hopefully better on the original file.
To crop at the middle of the moon would be more kind to me. So that the horizon isnΒ΄t placed in the middle.... but.... not quite sure!
The foreground with the illuminated tree is fine. How i already said, not my favourite, but not bad too!
I would hang another artwork from you in my gallery .

I feel you 100%, I wasn't overly happy with this shot to begin with, but I thought I'd upload it seeing as its been sitting on my hard drive for over a year now. I do plan on going back there soon to re-shoot this shot, so I'll put your suggestion into play. Thanks buddy

Wow Amazing, so this is a night shot and thats the moon on a long exposure... and those are star trails not sun trails(or is that a term for star streaks)? Must have been a very long exposure 2-3 mins I'm guessing... Fabulous effect love the fog and shadows coming thru the tree.

This was taken around 3-4 AM so still dark enough to capture the stars with a long exposure. It would be around 3 or 4 min yes. Thank you for your interest

Looking back now Drew the superimposed moon looks nice...Hahaha jk, surreal shot. This is the type of photography that I'm starting to get more interested in (night photography). Hoping to see more of this from you in the future.

I don't think I'd feel very good as a photographer if I was to upload the manipulated mega moon mockup on here hehe, thanks man. I plan on shooting more ought stuff. Just downloaded a star trail stacking action for photoshop and I'm going to get into it once my LED lights arrive

Ah nice. What program did you download? I've been looking for a good one to stack trails. I've been using the PS commands, and they take quite a while.

Well I'm a Mac user and everything I found was for PC, but I ended up finding this program called StarStax [link] Check it out. If you are PC I think it's compatible with that too.
