I've actually been working on this pic for the better part of the week, but I have to say I've pretty happy with the results.

Actually, it depends on which version of her you go with.
It goes back to that old "boy-wish fullfillment". Boys' heroes were usually big, tough men so Cap was made into an adult. However, at least with the school of thought at the time, girls liked being girls. Growing up to be a woman wasn't as glamorous as the life of a young or teenage girl. Most of the other heronies of that era were aimed at a (young) male audience, but Mary was something different and she was made to be attractive to a different "demographic".
Just my thoughts anyway.
