Description And so the first non-Disney non-animated kiddies are Tim and Lex from Jurassic Park.
Don't you judge me. Don't you dare judge me. And if you deny that Jurassic Park is a perfect movie you're lying. Those Phil Tippett dinosaurs still look freaking amazing.
And y'all can thank *Zimeta for this one, she bribed me to go through with it. X3

What's strange about me is that I distinctly remember not really liking the kids in JP. 'Cause, you know, I'd always root for the raptors (though I did feel bad when the cool hunter guy Muldoon got eaten). But now as adult I like them? I don't know I'm just odd like that. As a kid I didn't like movies with annoying bratty kids in them, but now as an adult I like it.

Oh! Something interesting about Ariana Richards (the girl who played Lex): she became an artist. And a damn good one, too. Look her up!

Lordy you got me started lol The Science Museum in Cleveland was one of the stops for the actual props and things from the movie. Sadly I wasn't allowed to take pictures, but it was amazing seeing the actual T-rex head they used in some scenes as well as the raptors and brachiosaurus, but the full sized trike was stunning just wow. Best display they ever had in that moth-eaten old museum XD When I went to Islands of Adventure back in 1999 I went on the JP ride and when the boat dropped and went towards a little bridge I was amazed seeing John Hammond standing there! Of course it wasn't the dude from the movie, but an excellent double. So cool seeing him strolling around his "park" It's too bad they don't have him do that anymore Looked just like him and I think I made his day when I walked by and said Good morning John!

Hmm... You know to tell you the truth, I'm not a huge fan of JP. Why... I don't know, I just couldn't get into it.

Anyway, great job on Tim and Lex, Misty. They both look wonderful in your style.

BTW... What's that green stuff in the bowl? Sorry, it's been so long since I watched this movie.

Jello? They actually had Jello in this movie? Heh... Sweet.

Now, what are your hopes for the upcoming fourth JP movie? Yay or nay?

Definitely! The animatronics in the film are just astounding. I do wish that more movies nowadays made use of them.

"but 3d's cheaper!"

Bleh, you just don't wanna hire a bunch of people to make the puppet & work with it.

DrMistyTang In reply to SavageFrog [2013-05-10 19:53:53 +0000 UTC]

...Actually it's probably not cheaper. XD I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to make a rubber head than it is to render one.

Also animatronics just look better.

Tried looking it up but I'm getting conflicting answers. So I can't say for sure.

I always figured that since poor art school interns & studios in Southeast Asia are pretty much fair game for studios that it would be cheaper vs having to hire sculpture artists & some technical engineers

DrMistyTang In reply to SavageFrog [2013-05-10 20:07:58 +0000 UTC]

In that case it might depend on where you go for CGI animation. I'd imagine that studios like ILM are ridiculously expensive, though. And what you get from an underpaid studio from Southeast Asia would likely be pretty bad--after all, you get what you pay for.
But CGI is not my forte, so it's all just speculation on my part.

I'm just going on average median wage-I have no idea how much a studio would charge for a gig.

We must investigate further!
