Description
One of the projects I worked on recently that consumed quite a bit of my spare time.In planning, that is.
You see, I had to get the image exactly right. So I spent time. A lot of time. Preparing for the piece. In fact, it wasn't even meant to be a drawing at all. It was meant to be a frosted mirror stencil.
But anyways, I got a chess board, and some pieces. And I played the game through to a certain point. Then it came time for photography. I took several artistic shots of the piece for fun. Perhaps I will post them in due time. Then the real work began...
But, for all you curious folks, this image was too large to scan. WAY too large to scan. So what you see before you is actually a digital photograph of the picture, taken at about 2 AM on Thursday. The frame itself is a digital exact replica of the real frame that the image is in. So if you saw the piece hanging on the wall, it would look matted the same way...
I worked on this piece from 10 PM Wednesday to 2 AM Thursday without stops. And that was simply after all the pre-planning and sketching and such. Funny as it is, I didn't even know what the piece looked like until the next day. My eyes wouldn't focus while I was working on it.
Cheers!
-Droakir

That is BOLD. Excellent, excellent work. Those stark contrasts really make the piece stand up and shout. I'm glad you placed well in the drawing competition with this one.

Thank you. I'm glad that you like it. I'm kind of getting partial to this style - simple, yet dramatic, IMO.
Oh - and thanks for the fav!

Then I guess it's Okay, but I prefer talking to you then you doing art work for me. I'm not the type of person who gets artwork a lot. XD I'm pretty happy with talking to friends!

Hmmm... If you're in for the fantasy style, I'd go for the Icewind Dale Trilogy, the Phillip Pullman trilogy (first book was great, I didn't like the later two), Wheel of Time series, etc.
As far as fiction... Hmm... Not sure.

WOW! I love this! But I've always been a fan of images with strong positive and negatives. So you did a really good job with this.

Which pieces? If you look at contrast, you can begin to tell the difference. Note that the king in the foreground is white, and the king in the background is black. Go from there.

Yeah. Same goes to you. Hope both our things get accepted by the Jury (though I think yours will without a doubt). Don't know about those single category competitions. I hear it's rough.
