Description
Texting during social gatherings is really annoying. But for some reason the texters always seem oblivious to this fact. I know I've been guilty of it once or twice, but since I realized how rude it was, I have made a conscious effort to stop doing it. Especially if someone's in the middle of saying something. Seriously. Text messages can wait a few minutes. If it were really an emergency, your friend would call you.Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go check my e-mail.
Cheers!

I had a lot of fun putting this piece together. This is one of the first times in a long time that I've penciled a strip traditionally and inked digitally. Thankfully, I'm getting a bit of a better handle of how the different brushes and tools work in Manga Studio 5. Altogether, a much shallower learning curve than MS4. Which can only be a good thing.
Illustrated in Manga Studio 5.

At first I had just a static chair. Then I drew the motion lines on a whim. It made me laugh, so I left it in.

Yeah. The ironic thing about text messages is... they really can wait. It's not like people NEED an immediate response.

When I see people do this, it makes me yearn for ye olden days of flip phones and primitive, cumbersome texting capabilities.
Almost.

Yeah. Back when texting was annoying, it wasn't such a huge deal. Then Blackberries were invented and we had "email addicts" that did the same thing, but with email.

Thankfully I have not been in that situation yet. Probably will now, I'm the most talented jinxer that ever existed.

Or it has happened and you just didn't notice. I realized it recently and now I notice it more and more often.

Possibly. I'm not very social or chatty outside a VERY small group (Mom & sister, and old neighbor if I have one at the time) and usually keep to myself or find a little kid to play with. It probably does happen all the time.

Just keep an eye on other groups chatting in public places. I saw the funniest thing the other day - two people on a date, but both were so busy texting and instagramming that they didn't even talk to each other.
