Description This is the final, finished version of the Gutsdozer layered bead sprite. The first version had the layers built up almost like frames.

Instead, I laid out a topographic model of sorts upon which each piece is glued. You can see the depth in the second image above. This way, there is more surface area to be glued and therefore the piece as a whole is sturdier.

How do you do these? As in, do you have enough boards to lay them all out and iron it all in one go? Or do you do it a few boards at a time and then iron them together?

I can never make them flat- when I iron them they always go a bit crazy!

Yeah, each piece is ironed whole across multiple boards. If you iron at a medium heat and don't overdo it, it shouldn't be too difficult to get it to iron consistently across the whole piece. Here's a tutorial I put together on ironing super large pieces that might come in handy: [link]

Aaah. Thanks for the tip!! I've always really struggled, when I lift it off they always seem to fall apart, or there are bits I hadn't done, and stuff. How do you get such a large piece of the boards as well??

Large boards? They sell interlocking plates that yo can connect to make boards as large as you want. It sounds like you're ironing on too high heat and getting some inconsistency in some areas. Iron on a medium heat and iron for longer over the whole piece and try to avoid pushing down too hard or the beads will melt and squash into the peg board.

Thank you! Yes, it's pretty big, and with the layers it's got some weight to it, but nothing that can't be easily hung on a nail or two.

It is Yuna! I did Yuna, Rikku and Payne, but as I realized just now, I never took pictures of them! I'll try to get them up sometime soon.

Almost as big as Skull Castle...and far less foam core, which is always nice, cause for the bottom couple of layers of all these layered pieces, I basically cut out the same huge shape. Once I get closer to the top, it gets easier.

I don't know how you do this, but it's some of the most awesome work I've seen leap out of the screen.
