Description
I suffer swoops and pangs of unending scientific torment at the hands of Dinosauria, but my knack for fantastic logic saves me every time. Some scientists have suggested the claws of raptors may have adapted them for arboreal living, so I put Lightstep in a tree. A slender, springy branch, until remembered that Utahraptor (which is what these guys are) weighed about 1000-1500 pounds. I hadn't inked, but I'd penciled, and was freaking out, until I remembered giant sequoias were a rather dominant tree species back in the Early Cretaceous. So all I had to redraw was the branch. But perhaps I've called attention to the improbable, regardless.Although it can't really be embroidered here, the raptors have a strict code of honor, modeled after the bushido code of the samurai. Greenfeather is not quite bucking the system; his lack of seriousness will never gain him rank or any serious esteem. (Until he grows up, but he doesn't seem to mind.) Dawnleg, being female, is larger than her male counterparts, same as some hawk species. Lightstep is also not the true leader of the pack; his mate is. But she's back at the nest with her chicks and plays no important part in the story, so I'll digress. Man, it's hard to let the story tell itself sometimes!
I did an ink wash for the backgrounds this time, and it saved my markers some painful torture. And I'm exceedingly pleased with Greenfeather's expression in the second panel.

Tis grand. I'm glad I stumbled upon this when you have quite a few pages out so I didn't really have to wait. Guess I will as soon as I got done reading them all...

Colour me the latecomer... but hey, this is working out great so far.. y'definetely have a way with your dinosaurs... not to mention the contrast ratio. Your linework is fantastic and bold... indeed. Heh, dino squabble. Gah, my dialogue is too casual and lax... grgghh. Anyway, anyway, I digress... I'm looking forward to reading the next instalments. This is coming along very very nicely indeed. Kudos on all your skill and research... it shows brilliantly.

This is really awesome. I don't remember seeing any sequential stuff from you before, but you can color me eight shades of impressed! Love the dinos and the backgrounds, yet the two fellas in the last panel almost blend with the back too well. I'm not sure if an outline is necessary, but something needs to break them from the backdrop.

Yeah, maybe I will go ahead and outline them. I was reluctant at first, but my sense of lighting and shading is kinda ... crap. I think I'll be 80 before I discover how to escape lines.

I LOVE THIS
how do you get so much expression and character into those dino faces while keeping them so realistic!? OWNAGE!!

Uh ... I don't really know. It's hard, cause their faces aren't very flexible. Mostly it's messing with the brow and the eyes.
I don't find them particularly hyperrealistic, though.

See? I told you my one critique of this story would be nulified once you worked on the final. Amazing art and great characters. Wish you'd do the whole thing as a comic.

They'd find it half-completed with me slumped over it. And don't jump the gun yet, things might still get preachy!
I'm still rewriting ...
