Mostly Star Fox 2 was used to Star Fox 64 & Star Fox Command.

So Nintendo Claims, but not really, IMHO.Β  All three games were Very different.Β

StarWolf was stolen from 2 for 64 ... and that's about it. The "All Range Mode" in 64 was actually substantially inferior to the freedom experienced in 2, where ALL stages were free roaming, and ships flew MUUUCH Faster.

Command borrowed some visual elements from 2, but the Gameplay was substantially different on the most part.Β  Every stage in Command was just the Ice Base and Mother Ship stages from 64, rehashed over and over and over and over again with different background environments.Β  The "Draw a Line to plot your course" parts, in spite of how similar they may look in still screen shots, were a completely different experience from the Map Screen interaction in the SNES Sequel. Command was NOT StarFox 2.

StarFox 2 included a real-time map screen which required dynamic interaction, and stages could be entered and exited at will to react to all invaded planets launching missiles at once as well as battleships launching fighters, sometimes requiring missions to be aborted in order to intercept missiles or fighter squadrons that slipped past defenses, because objects on the Map Screen Continued to Move, even while inside a stage. That unique and complex, yet intuitive gameplay mechanic, along with transformable starfighters and a selectable team of interchangeable playable characters (including the two lovely ladies above, and ALMOST the character seen in my Avatar at an early development stage) still have not appeared in ANY of the games that have followed ... yet.Β  [You could actually play the game as only Fay and Miyu, while Fox, Falco, Slippy and Peppy just stayed home and let 'The Girls' save the Lylat system for them ... which was kind of awesome, actually]

So NO ... 'Most' of StarFox 2 has still NOT been officially seen or experienced, except by those whom have played the unofficially leaked Beta.
