Do the constellations glow in the dark? I know you probably want more skin comments but I'm a bit more fascinated by the feathers and beads, sorry XD

Ha, you know we have yet to see any feathered animals on Pandora, but there were feather decorations present in the movie. I hope we get to see those animals in the second one!

I don't blame them, feathers are a pain in the system to make and render XD

I was watching bits of Avatar last night to get screen grabs (of an upcoming creature, heehee)and I have to say, the artists took NO shortcuts. In areas, for example, where they didn't need to be water, but you could tell it was there from the dancing reflections, that was amazing. There were the little differences in plants, and just numerous other things that just show how much work they put into the movie. I don't think anyone is going to surpass all the people who worked on Avatar. They set the bar very, very high!

Didn't say they'd taken shortcuts, I said feathers are a pain in the system to make and render XD

There's a way to fake water refraction but buggered if I know how to do it, I'd probably just do it the long way like I do the feathers I'm currently working on.  Least I learned from the bird I did and managed to cut the render time on the freaking feathers XD

You work primarily with Blender, right? I have a question for you about painting onto pre-made textures. 4 hours and 4 tutorials later and I still cannot get it. Actually, I keep crashing blender and I don't know if it's because the texture I'm using is somewhere around 8200x8200, or if an action I try doing keeps crashing it :/

I haven't done anything more complex than painting colour maps in Blender, I usually use the node editor.  I use 3d Coat for texture painting and sculpting.

I tried using nodes the first time I ventured into the texture painting, and I didn't go well. I didn't see the point, actually. But I've noticed a few different things in Blender 2.7 than in earlier versions. For example, I still can't figure out how to zoom precisely. The method explained in other versions doesn't seem to work for me >_>

I only use them for procedurals because that's all I know how to use them for.  If you want more detailing/better control etc I think you still have to paint UV maps.  I actually got 3d Coat to do that as I hate dealing directly with UV maps XD

Your renders have improved SO much over the last year or two- excellent work, keep it up! It's been amazing seeing you grow as an artist. Her skin and the lighting in this one are really extra fantastic.
