Pine Marten + Opossum = Pine OmarsumThis was drawn for an anthro contest about unusual hybrids so I decided to do a hybrid of two animals I like. This was originally gonna be an opossum-stoat hybrid but I felt that I tend to draw stoats a lot and that the longer legs would be more suiting on a marten. I hope it looks good enough; our printer doesn't scan color in well so I had to try my best to adjust it on a digital art program. :/

Very odd combination, while it would likely excel a an arboreal life style, I can't help but wonder what it would be like mentally. Martens are clever intelligent creatures while the pet possum I use to own seemed only dimly aware of the world around it, reacted to every thing with a noticeable delay, and would try to eat socks and dish rags.

Indeed it is a strange combination- which is good considering it's supposed to be that. I've actually never seen an opossum or other marsupial irl and have no clue what owning one is like, though I assume it's probably a bit interesting. I do understand your wondering since I tend to wonder such things myself. If I plan to draw more pine omarsums in the future I may have to think a little about the biology and behavior of such animals. It'd be a little tricky considering that inteligence-wise opossums and martens are quite different.
