This is what I always think too. (People should just tell me their pronoun, so that I don't misgender them, because this would be embarrassing as hell. And I'll stick to that pronoun, I don't care if you look like a dude, if you describe yourself as a lady then you WILL BE a lady for me.)

I'm pretty sure others do. I mean, it's part of presenting their gender/lack of gender/nonconforming gender, so they probably put in a little effort for the most part. I know I do when I really want to present androgyny by flattening my chest out with a binder since that's a dead give away, unfortunately. We typically choose clothes that could be worn for any gender and wear hairstyles that are both/neither masculine nor feminine.

chances are if you mistake someone for the opposite gender, they either A.) WANT you to be confused or B.) are confused with the opposite gender all the time and probably wouldn't care if you asked them what gender they are.
