Description
You'd think the exact opposite would be true about dancing back then, but nope!It was also unacceptable to leave women without a partner at the side of the room. Can't say I disagree with those rules of etiquette.
His story's starting out nice and cliche but there's bound to be some bumps in the road.
The era Jupiter's little romance takes place in is important. Why? Well, if you look at this alternate history you might be able to figure out why there's still a CSA and a USA before I even have to say anything.

Love the whole composition of this page. Like he's leaning back into the memories. And she looks so absolutely sweet.

She's really pretty!
That is really bizarre that the guys were obligated to switch dance partners constantly--wouldn't have thought that.

I think it was to keep the men from taking all the time from certain women and to keep up the social aspect of the dance.

Sure thing! I don't expect everyone to know about American history- not even Americans these days.
In our reality, the American Civil war took place in the 1860s. In this reality Jupiter and Barbara were married during that time and there was no war. Blue also briefly mentioned that Jupiter was all for a peaceful split of the two countries.
Is it possible that Jupiter helped avoid an entire war for the sake of his wife? :0

Uh huh, interesting. It would seem that he would be able to sway such events, though I can't imagine that being particularly easy. It does make me wonder what his first thought landing on the planet was re: interfere or integrate? It must have taken time and energy to assimilate the extensive range of human culture, languages and histories over all that time!

Barbara looks to be quite charming and perhaps just a tiny bit shy.
Now could it be that this romance between her and Jupiter had a leading consequence in there not being a Civil War in this reality? Β The thought boggles the mind!!!

Love makes us do funny things, build empires, shift allegiances, prevent wars, mow the lawn.
