Description This was a lot of fun to do, and I'm going to include some of the technical gritty bits below because I think they're worth sharing.

~~~~~~~Technical Gritty Bits~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As always, DS 4.6 -> Reality 2.5 -> LuxRender 1.2
ISO: 64
Shutter: 1/2
f-stop 2.8
Film Response: Advantix 400
Quality: 1.35 kS/p
Lights: This is were things get fun. There are 3 primary lights in this scene, all curved lights placed about where you'd expect them to be (in front of the figure, off to the left and right and angled towards her, one high above and slightly in front, angled down.) The big thing in placing these lights that is important is that they are LOW TO THE GROUND. And need to be. Too much downward angle, and they appear too strongly in the reflections of the water.... by backing them up, and keeping the angle of light low, the light does the work without over boldly proclaiming itself.
Lighted Pillars. No, the pillars aren't lights. To light the pillars, I created a group of cylinders, 5 meters tall, 5 cm in diameter. Think of them as giant fluorescent light bulbs. Each 'bulb' was then placed WITHIN a pillar, and the surface of the pillar was set to 'Mat Translucent' in Reality. The differing brightness you see on the pillars on the right from the pillars on the left is not caused by different values from the lights, but rather by different proximity from the 'bulb' to the surface.
Water: Reality Water material set to 'Clear Water' with a clarity of 1.0 (though .5 would probably have been fine) and a ripple of 0.17
Thanks for looking and I hope the technical bits are of use to someone out there!
I'm always happy to share. Reality / Lux can take a while to get used to, but once you do, OMG the results!
I know. I've been looking at everyone else's work and I can't wait to get results like I've been seeing. I have so many ideas I can realize when I do. And I'm like how more life like the characters are. I'll save 3Delight for more toony things like Cookie.
Magnificent result!Also thank you for the technical tips People say that Luxrender's rendering time is long but I can see, results are Β always wonderful!Can you tell me please, How many time you spend for this rendering? Thanks in advance and congrats again
I have found it depends upon your target resolution. Β For me, I typically run Luxrender overnight. Β For a setup at 2000 x 1600, with three lights + IBL + reflective surfaces, that would usually give me about 1100 to 1500 samples / pixel in the course of 10 hours. Β This would be the minimum acceptable level in order to reduce noise. Β If I wanted to go with a lesser resolution, say the 1440 x 900 as used in this image, it would likely reduce down to about 6 - 7 hours at the same samples / pixel. Β As I view it, if the rendering is occurring in the background as I sleep, what do I care for how long it takes? Β My computer is an i7 with 16 Gb of RAM, though. Β I don't use the graphics card, because it usually crashes Reality / Lux if doing so in hybrid mode.
Thank you very much for the helping info about luxrender I saw your beautiful gallery, in the experienced hands,I can see, Luxrender can gives wonderful results! but Rendering times are really long,It seems if you want to prepare a really big render,probably you will encountered a horribly long rendering process!As for me,this means; while the rendering process Β I couldn't use any other 3D software!this could be an important problem for me!because I have to use my one and only computer for my other needings such as 3D modeling,not just that rendering hobby!...I don't know? I'm just trying to find an optimum solution for quality/time dilemma!in this search process,Some programs come forward such as Luxrender-Octane-Cycles and V-ray...Nowadays I'm trying to learn v-ray for my job needings but I'm not an 3DS MAX user,I'm using the V-ray for Rhino,maybe because of that I encountered some human skin texture importing problems!As for the Cycles;frankly I don't know much except the name of that render engines ! Well...We will see...I'll be continue to try search and learn!During this search,Every kind of info could be useful for me because of that, thank you very much again for your message and information about the Luxrender processes,take care and keep up the good work .....
This image rendered for close to 20 hours. I have 2 computers for network rendering, both of them are older i3s. From what I've read in the LuxRender bench marks, you could achieve comparable render times with a single i7 3770, maybe even faster times.Β
One of the big things to know about Reality -> LuxRender is that once your workflow is built around the render times, it's really not so bad. I do several test renders, and tend to only render full size overnight or when I'm at work. I will say this though, Reality 3 for Poser requires Poser 9 / 2012 and up, or you can get Reality 2.5 for Daz Studio 4.6.... If you're already in the poser groove, I'd recommend upgrading Poser and going with Reality 3 to get more access to the deeper features of LuxRender, but that's me. Cheers, and GL whatever you do.
