Description
Within a demon's body, a constant struggle is being fought. Immensely powerful forces work to destroy its flesh, burning it, liquefying it, tearing it apart. To keep itself from disintegrating, a demon must exert a significant portion of it's magic and consciousness toward re-growing it's deteriorating form. Exoskeletons crack and burn, only to be replaced with new chitinous fibers. Organs burst and leak fluids through the skin before they are patched up into almost unrecognizable imitations. Wing membranes tear and veins bleed, while new ones replace and heal them at an impossible rate. A demon's appearance never remains the same for too long, for it's body is forever falling apart and reforming. It feels unrelenting agony, it's entire body a festering wound that will never close up. And the demons have lived this cursed half-life for over 7 million years.I don't want to exaggerate, but I think that, in terms of craft, this is one of the best pieces I've done. It was all made in a single photoshop layer, and almost all with one brush (of different sizes, though). I have no idea how long it took me, but over 12 hours is a safe bet. While there are some major weaknesses in the overall design of the creature, I feel I've got a good handle on the painting technique.

This one is friggin' amazing. Yes, the painting's good, but so is the design of the demon. The little text about it is good, too.

I really dig this one! I like the paint technique you used. All on one layer that's pretty impressive. I always max mine out. Did you come up with that demon write up in the artists comments? Cause it's very cool.

Wow! For some reason, this creature reminds me of those bird-like guardians of Metroid...

Ooh, haven't played it. Though come to think of it, I don't think you're the first who's said my work looks similar to Metroid.
Thanks for the comment!

Your Cthulhu picture is cool, but I think this picture is much better. I really like the contrast of light and dark. It makes the demon look powerful and gives a great sense of scale. So, despite my username, I do prefer this picture!

Great piece.

your description of demon biology reminds me of plate tectonics XD
very VERY cool, and extra cool since it's all done on one layer! I don't use photoshop that much, but when I do, I almost never use layers...mostly out of laziness, but it's good to know I'm not alone ^^ plus, you make single layer paintings look just as good as multilayer ones
this has a very egyptian feel, and kind of reminds me of those minions that Ra had in the Stargate movie
did I mention how cool this is?

Thanks! Glad ya like it. I never thought of plate tectonics, but that's a cool analogy.
I found that for what I was trying to do in this pieceββthat is, simulated traditional painting techniquesββlayers weren't really necessary. Still, some things definitely could have been done more easily if I was working on multiple layers, corrections in particular.
I kinda see what you mean about the Stargate dudes, what with the long, thick neck and pointed snout. Though I think my original inspiration was more along the lines of Evangelion and a couple pieces by
Thanks so much for the comment.

I agree. Great work!

Weaknesses? Perhaps. But it doesn't matter. Horror and Fantasy. No one has any right to correct these two genres. Therefore, it is as the artist/author makes it to be. Besides... this is one HELLA COOL ASS Mutha....
