Description

As mentioned above, the forelegs are often treated much like human arms and with little regard for how a pony's legs would actually bend. I think this is fine as long as it is done as a conscious decision. I try to follow the guidelines whenever possible, but won't hesitate to break the rules if I think it will make the picture better.

I've always been a 3D artist, and the last time I even attempted to draw something was over two years ago at this point. I wasn't even into MLP back then. Despite that, I'm aware of the anatomy of ponies pretty well at this point, and I've only ever applied that to my 3D work. But I've never picked up any real drawing fundamentals. Never thought I would get any good at it. I suppose now is a pretty good time to at least give that a shot in my spare time, and keeping an eye out on your upcoming guides. Can't say I know if I'll be great at drawing, but it'd certainly be nice to have the ability to draw something that resembles something decent, and anything more than that is a bonus. So yeah... Definitely keeping an eye on this!

Your 3D models are very well done! It's clear that you have a good grasp on anatomy and motion. I'm sure that will be a big help when you start drawing again. A big part of drawing is training your eye to identify what looks wrong. The other part is hitting Undo until you get it right But like any other skill, it will take practice to improve. Looking forward to see how you do!

This is such a great series for the Artist Training Grounds. Wonder why these aren't featured over there?
