That's pretty awesome. Only one thing erk's me about it though: the pink around the outter rim of the star.
Other than that, I think the artistic side of it is very well done. Fantastic display of skills

And just, you said you're using brushes, yet, I see several fractals that make up the corona of the star, or are those just fractal brushes?

Yes i created sevral brushes from fractals and used them creating this star. So you could say i used fractals but they where brushed in instead.
