When ever I think of Ash's name "Ketchum" I automatically think of ketchup, then I fuse them... Ketchump and then I when I think of that I get Chump which is what he is... a chump, Ash Chump. OR the Ashes of chumps that have had their minds overload then burst into flames due to watching Ash Chump constantly trying to "KETCHUM" all...
On another note, if not Rena, then someone awesome, someone like... hmmmmm lets see... someone famous... Goku perhaps?

Yeah, most teachers say Willis before I correct them.
But that's something entirely different, I mean I'm not saying that Ash's name is Chump, that's just the product of my awesome word links. His name's Satoshi and I don't think he has a surname in Japanese version.
The name "Ketchum" is a pun on the 4Kids series' franchise's former tagline and slogan, "Gotta catch 'em all"!
