Been a while since I've done one of these! I know I said I'd be doing the princesses next, but Flash sort of popped out instead, so here we are, heh. Info below!

Flash Sentry is the loyal lieutenant of the Crystal Guard under Captain Shining Armor. Kind, brave, and faithful to his duties, Flash quickly climbed up the ranks within the guard when he first joined, as he was naturally gifted in combat thanks to his agility and speed. Shining Armor, impressed by his prowess throughout his training, eventually befriended the younger stallion- from this friendship Flash was introduced to Shining's younger sister and the newest princess of Equestria, Twilight Sparkle.

The two became smitten with one another, more so Flash, as their paths continued to cross, and, under the gentle nudging of a certain empress, the two began to date. Flash and Twilight were a couple for a good long while, nearly two years, in fact, and within this time, Flash always thought they were both happy, but eventually, Twilight became distant as her feelings for Flash lessened over time. She liked Flash a lot, she really did, but the longer they were together she realized that they were both very different and wanted different things in life, which made her feel uneasy about a future with him. Flash had been happy with Twilight, but after she decided to come clean and confessed her feelings, he realized he had to let her go. They broke up, and while it had been for the best and had ended in friendship still, Flash was severely heartbroken afterwards. He had a lot of questions still about why Twilight had wanted to leave him, but he kept his hurt to himself- he threw himself into his work instead to cope, further climbing the ranks until he became Shining Armor's second-in-command as lieutenant.

Though he eventually learned to piece himself back together again, Flash suffered for a long time after he and Twilight split up, going so far as to still being a little hung up on her when she started dating Scorpan, which happened a few years afterwards of their breakup. At the wedding, which he was hesitant to attend, he wound up actually having a good time thanks to one of Twilight's old friends- Minuette, who he had met once or twice when he and Twi were still dating. Minuette had seen Flash at the celebration looking a little sad and lonely, so she decided to talk to him for a while to try and cheer the poor guy up. They had a nice time, and Flash left the wedding feeling a little happier than he had felt for a while. Minuette was a charming mare- chipper and quick to laugh, he very much enjoyed her company. Eventually he threw himself back into routine until his path crossed again one day with her's while she was visiting the Empire. He offered to give her a tour around, and once again he had a very nice time, Minuette likewise. While he was rusty at the game, Flash worked up the nerve to ask her out for a coffee sometime, to which Minuette happily agreed. They began to meet every now and then- Flash was busy with his guard duties and Minuette was busy with her business, but eventually they started dating. Min was a little hesitant to enter into any kind of relationship with Flash, since he was Twilight's ex-boyfriend, of course, but Twi assured her it was fine with her- she knew Flash had been hung up on her for a long time, and she had always felt bad for it, so she was happy to hear him finally showing interest again in dating, especially with someone she was confident could make him smile again, like Minuette.

The two dated for a while before they finally got serious, and soon they were happily married. Min always made Flash laugh and put him at ease, reminding him to enjoy the little things in life, while Flash gives her a sense of stability in her hectic and busy life- someone she can lean on for support and who can take charge when she's feeling tired, as well as being someone she doesn't always have to be bubbly with. Minuette and Flash have one son together, Wintertide Lance, whom they both love to gush over. Flash is a proud father and is very active in his son's life- and with his friends, too, since he is Starlight and Sunburt's Crystaller to their children, Astraeus Glow and Asteria Gleam. Flash became good friends with Starlight while he was dating Twilight, and eventually he grew close with Sunburst, too, in the Empire. Their friendship remained strong, even after the breakup, and Flash takes his duty as Crystaller to Starlight and Sunburt's twins seriously- he's a sort of fun uncle figure to them both and they all get along well. Aside from being a Crystaller, Flash is also Aria Valor's personal trainer. Shining Armor would have taught Val himself since he's her father, but Cadence felt it best that someone else be in charge of Val's training, since Shining would probably only be too soft on their daughter. Flash is a tough mentor behind his warm and friendly personality and he drills Aria nearly without mercy, not relenting on her just because she's the crown princess- if anything, this only encourages him to push her farther so she can grow up into being a tough and powerful empress of the Crystal Empire someday. Val grumbles and gripes about her exercises, but she loves it and really appreciates and looks up to Flash- he's fond of the princess, too, but he can sometimes be a little cold to her because of the guilt he feels regarding Val's missing older sister, Flurry Heart.

The night Flurry Heart was kidnapped, Flash had been on duty patrolling outside the castle. When the alarm was raised that the princess had gone missing, Flash scoured the Empire, but to no avail- the cuplrit was gone without a trace. The guard on duty outside the nursery hadn't known what happened- it was believed he was put under some sort of magically induced trance because when the next guard had come to relieve him of his duty, the baby was gone. Flash hadn't seen anyone come in or out of the castle before the alarm had gone off- Flurry Heart had simply just disappeared out of thin air, it seemed. Because he wasn't there guarding her door, Flash feels almost personally responsible for her disappearance and grieves her loss almost as deeply as Shining Armor and Cadence do. Although the Empire and the royal couple have learned to move on, something inside Flash grew a little bitter then, and a bit of that bitterness he unintentionally directs to Val, making sure she's stronger and better able to defend herself against any potential threats, unlike Flurry had been.

Despite all the hurt he's experienced in the past, Flash has grown to be a stronger stallion from it thanks to the support of his friends. Faithful and friendly, Flash is a good father, husband, and lieutenant. Aside from guard duty, Flash enjoys playing guitar and hoofball, being around his friends, and watching the stars (a pastime he picked up from Twi).

Flash is the kind of pony in the fandom where you either just hate him or tolerate him- rarely do people like or even love him, I find, which I can understand, I guess. I personally never minded Flash at all when he first appeared- sure he was and still is pretty basic, as your typical guitar-playing teenage nice guy as he appeared in Equestria Girls, but I've always enjoyed taking generally boring characters and developing them further, and Flash was no exception. He has a lot of ties with many characters because of his relationship with Twilight, so I really couldn't ignore him in Harmonyverse (not that I wanted to, mind you). I hope I added some more dimension to his character here! Poor Flash has had it rough, but he's happy in the end.

As for the side doodle, in the Crystal Empire, it is common for citizens, regardless of gender, to wear makeup following the style of the Empress, so many guards and members of the royal court wear it to show their allegiance to the crown. Flash doesn't mind it at all, but more often than not he's pretty busy with his duties to take the time to put the make-up on. He's close with the royal family, however, so his support is never in doubt- Cadence herself finds the tradition a little silly because of all the sparkle and time it puts everyone through, but she never says a word about it to keep everyone happy. Flash only tends to wear his makeup when has time to apply it in the morning or on special occasions. (Note: it took him a few years to get it right, but he is now currently the best of the guards at it.)
