was holding a Weekly Concept Art Challenge over at her art forum, Running With Scissors.
This was my quick non-entry for the 2nd week. (i won the first round, so this was just for fun) n.n
I <3 bulky creatures.

"THE CHALLENGE!!

Dormirterras, magestic creatures of might and power, dwell deep within the earth's crust, building and traveling through elaborate caverns and mazes near the earth's core. Capable of living years without the sunlight or food, Dormirterra's get all their nutrients and food in a few months in the summer when they emerge into the warm waters of the largest ocean. After this short window, Dormirterras dissapear back into the Earth. Their activity beyond these few months is unkown, but many suspect that the Dormirterras resume a long hibernation in the warmth of the Earth. Generally benign creatures and widely unkown to human races, these Dormirterras have recently become disturbed by extremely deep and intrusive mining by a race of people on the surface. Every day more of these sleeping giants find their way to the surface through these mines, posing problems to the towns and cities and causing hundreds of casualties.

YOUR CHALLENGE! : Design the Dormirterra! What does it look like? What does it eat? What exactly DOES it do between feedings? Fill in the gaps and come up with a solid presentation for the sleeping giant.

Comments: So i didn't really explain what it does in between feeding.. (It.. sleeps, yes.) but i loved the idea of it eating whales while it's out. XD Whole schools of 'em. (=

I suppose it's something like a cross between a whale, an otter, a mole, and a tub of lard. Although, this guy's not as large as he could be.. Perhaps he's been cutting down on the carbs.
