Description

This scene took place just before Reclaiming the Sea Wyvern...

The adventurers were looking for a ruined temple once inhabited by a race of cat people. As the Phanatons said, these ruins are rumored to hold a fabulous cache of arms which could prove very useful when the Crimson Fleet pirates arrive in Farshore in a few days...

  It had already been a few hours since they had entered the forest again in a temperature that must have been over forty degrees C°. Alysin and Liam led the way, cutting a path for the group dripping with sweat through the chaotic vegetation of the rainforest.

  "We shouldn't be very far now, if we can trust the Phanatons' indications," said Alysin.

  "I've spotted a kind of parrot, we could ask it if we're on the right track," Uthred sneered.

  "Ha ha... very funny," replied Alysin.

  "We could split up and search the area for ruins," Liam suggested.

  "I'm not sure that's wise," Kyalani replied.

  "But it's the best solution," said Alysin. "The ruins can be within a mile. We'll have a better chance once we're apart. »

  "So let's split into two groups and stay within earshot. I'll go this way with Aly and Kya and the others go that way," said Anariel, whose patience was not the strong point.

Two hours later, Alysin's voice rang out.

  "I think I've got it! »

Uthred, Liam and Fira rushed, guided by the sound of the young woman's indications, and found themselves facing a sort of stocky pyramid, overgrown with jungle vegetation. There were large niches along its walls that housed statues of jaguar-headed men covered with moss. A natural curtain of vines and thick creepers hung over a wide opening at the base of the wall facing them.

  "Are you sure this is it? "Uthred asked Alysin.

  "No, but it's the closest thing we have to a catman temple, isn't it? »

  "The best we can do is go in and check," says Liam.

  "We'll have to be careful, it might be booby-trapped," Uthred replied.

  "Why don't you go and have a look? "Anariel said. "After all, you're the specialist, aren't you? »

  "And you haven't done much in the last few days," said Fira. "Except to complain. »

  "OK, I see," Uthred grumbled as he unsuccessfully sought support from Liam. "I'm still the black sheep on the team, and I'm the only one with two fingers of judgement here! »

Uthred drew his rapier and cautiously approached the entrance. He crouched on the floor to examine it before getting up and turning to his companions with a broad smile on his face.

  "Good! No danger! I've checked everything, there's no trap! In any case, those cat-headed savages must not have known how to do anything but a noose... "

  "Uthred! Behind you! " Kyalani shouted.
