Description
Oil on Canvas, 18 x 24 inchesJune 21, 2013
I just recently went on a trip to the Smokey Mountains for some artistic inspiration. This is a painting version of one of many photos I took during the trip! I really enjoy how the results came out and I can't wait to paint more from what I saw. I think the trip did me well.

Thank you! I thought it was quite colorful though, with the pinks in the tree and blue for shadows and a gold in the clouds, but maybe the picture didn't do it justice. But thanks for the comment and for enjoying the painting!

Man, you make each stroke look so beautiful almost what seems effortlessly, and I tried something similar before, so I know how hard it can be. Very beautiful,

I love this painting. I've always enjoyed the dreamy effect from impressionist work.

Lovely! The composition is great; with trees accompanying the road which really shapes the "Path to Open Air". The thick pieces of paint and the dancing strokes of your brush has given a wonderful texture to the painting. there is a Van Gogh feeling because of those dancing strokes and the way everything curls but I'll go more for the Monet influence specially because of the style of the strokes and the colour theme and also the way you haven't painted the outline of the shapes.
And one other thing; about the fence on the right: it somehow adds some kind of "excitement" to the composition. Well done!

wow, Thank you so much! I love how you are able to see both Monet and van gogh in this, most people just call it "van gogh style", but there is much more to it thank you for noticing that and finding so much to appreciate! Thank you!

Oils, hmm? Kudos to you--I could never get the hang of it.
I like the thickness of the paint, and how you can see the strokes within. I noticed someone else likened it to Van Gogh's work, and I agree, although I would liken it more to the work of Monet. I like how the trees frame the piece, and how both they and the road draw your eyes to the center. I like that little fence in the corner as well.
Nicely done!
