Description
So I recently fell in love with a German musical, Elisabeth. In some ways, this show is like a combination of Evita and the Phantom of the Opera. Der Tod (death) is Elisabeth's Phantom.Feel free and welcome to use this wallpaper! I'd love to know if you do, but you don't need to ask permission.
I would highly recomend watching this show! The music is beautiful- translations are available on the internet. [link]
If you message me I have compiled a list of the videos (in show order) with English subtitles.

He is indeed her Phantom... and just like Christine, it takes her far too long to realize that she should listen to the phantom and follow him into the shadows...

Men like Erik are like a really good box of chocolates: they're so deliciously sinful, it's scary. You know you should stay away from them, and yet you also know that that's quite impossible. Drawn like "a moth to a flame" so to speak.

You nailed it. Scary but alluring. You know you should stay away, but you can't. Moth to the flame, indeed. Goodness knows that if I ever met Death and he really was like he is in the musical, I'd fall into his arms faster than Rudolf did.

I don't know what I'd do myself. Β Of course, I wouldn't let him kiss me though. Β "Kiss of Death" exists for a reason.

True, true. Though there are much worse ways to die than getting kissed by someone that gorgeous...

There are. Β And quite frankly, sometimes I'm rooting for Death when I'm reading stories and legends. Β I was rooting for it to be sure when I was reading Rowling's Tale of the Three Brothers. Β True, it follows the trope of the youngest of three siblings being the sagest of them all, but it has some really good points about death. Β The elder wand represents lust for power, greed, and fame, which are three of the major reasons people are murdered. Β The stone represents despair from losing a loved one, and how even though we may wish to bring them back, it's better to leave them undisturbed in death, and how grief is unproductive for living in the current time. Β The invisibility cloak is, of course, Death's ability to strike at any time, unseen and unpredictable.

Yeah, that story's really excellent for that purpose. I think it says a lot about the characters that after Hermione reads the story and they're all gonna say which gift they would choose, Ron says the wand, Harry says the stone, and Hermione says the cloak.
There are myths and legends where the personification or god of Death is actually a relatively friendly character. I think those stories are cool.
I personally think that in Elisabeth, Death doesn't really know what's going on in his head and his heart half the time. He's never been in love before and didn't think he even could love. I think he's honestly confused. I actually found an interview with MΓ‘tΓ© KamarΓ‘s that nearly confirms this for his portrayal of Der Tod, he says he feels there's a real vulnerability to Death.Β

I don't think he knew he COULD feel like that before seeing Elisabeth. Β All he knows is torture, torment, and eventual release as everyone's time for death comes and goes.

Yeah, he even says during the prologue, after it's all happened, that he still doesn't understand how he could fall in love. He knows how to influence mortals, but not how to express his own feelings. I really love how the song "No coming without going" shows his dilemma and confusion.

Hades, Lord of the Dead, probably had a similar dilemma dealing with his feelings for Persephone.

I like Uwe, but I really can't stand Pia's voice. And agreed on the swoon for Mate, my roomie and I call him "Hot-e Mate"

If you get a chance, listen to some of the music where Pia Douwes plays Elisabeth. She's simply amazing in the role.
<3 this musical. Good montage btw ^^

I have listened to her, her voice is very good, but I prefer the way Maya plays Elisabeth. Although... I like the contrast between the way Uwe and Mate play Der Tod.
And thanks!
