Description So many months ago ~AnneCat won a contest for #PhantomFans . For her prize she requested a 20's version of the Phantom of the Opera in the style of Art Nouveau and Mucha. At long last, this is her prize.

The piece was originally to include a version of Christine with Raoul as well, but I decided that I would rather do one coherent image with just Christine and the Phantom. This was the most difficult piece I have ever done, and I hope the result is satisfactory. It is certainly not my usual style and I had to learn a lot of new techniques to finish it.

I used the musical versions of the Phantom and Christine because I read that many of Mucha's works were commissioned for opera posters. The emphasis on music seemed appropriate.

Congrats again to you Anne and more apologies for the tardiness!

No need to apologize -- I think my *life* runs late, in general! This is lovely, and well worth the wait! I really like what you did with the rose motif; the Mucha-style circle framing them and the soft petals in the background. Very nice choice of pose, too. Nice work on the flowing folds of the dress! This would work very well as an opera poster -- I can just see it with the text in the more open areas at the bottom.

So so so so so pretty!

Thank you so much, I'm so glad you like it! Hopefully I'll get time to do a companion piece with Raoul and Christine some time soon.

Well since that's what Art Nouveau is, I'm glad that it looks right! Thanks very much.

MUCHA!
Oh, my goodness. I do love that man's art. SO much.
And YES, it's done very well! Quite a satisfactory result, indeed. I've been meaning to experiment with Art Nouveau styles myself, and I did a little bit with a portrait of Christine awhile ago if you ever saw that, but I haven't devoted enough time to. Perhaps after exams are over...

Thanks so much! I know, his stuff is lovely! I think I do remember seeing that portrait... but I understand time pressures. This thing was so overdue! Hope you get a chance to try it thought when you do have time, would love to see it!
