I learned that many professional dog artists just trace over photographs of the client's dog. So I did an experiment: the dog on the right is traced, the dog on the left is freehand. See how much better and more expressive the left side dog turned out?Related content

Neither look like a Boxer unfortunately, but I assume that's the client's dog's 'fault'. I can see a little Boxer in the muzzle on the left, but only in the very front where a Boxer's underbite would push out the front of the upper flews a bit under a more pushed in nose to create the distinctive profile, and a bit more fullness around the muzzle. But both heads really look like Labs more than anything.
