What exactly is the difference between Show Ponies and Liberty Horses?

I think I get it now:
The pony ladies were under a spell that blurred out their eyes, making them "show ponies". With this spell in place, they were open to mental influence from external sources.Β When the spell wears off, they revert to liberty horses.
Candi's quote was an acknowledgement that everyone inevitably has to answer to things like laws, taxes, curfews...etc

To be frank, the concept of the pony girls being hypnotized into performing makes me a tad bit uncomfortable. It skids a little too close to things like "Non-Consent", if you don't mind me saying.

At least in the movies, show girl plumage seems to use large, fluffy curved feathers, in the costumes.
Perhaps from ostriches, I don't really know. Or perhaps artificial feathers.

Still wondering what happens to the guy after she leaves him in the hands hands/hooves of the ponies tho. Admittedly I still half imagine they're gonna force him to be "one of them" until he pays it all back.
