Description
I'm an advocate for marijuana legalization. I have been for most of my life.Cannabis has myriad medical benefits, for both physical and mental conditions. That alone signifies that it does not belong as a "Schedule 1" controlled substance.
"Schedule 1 drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Schedule I drugs are the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological or physical dependence."
There are numerous proven uses for medical marijuana, so much so that 23 states have legalized it since 1996. Years of public as well as lab research has been conducted and it all confirms that not only does it have it's various medical uses, but it is also in no way dangerous or addictive in the manner that is required to be considered "Schedule 1." Since 2014 four states have legalized it for recreational use.
The information regarding the truth about Cannabis is and has been common knowledge for a very long time. Yet, the DEA still unjustly labels it as a "Schedule 1 Controlled Substance." It's considered just as bad as heroine for fuck sake! Cocaine by comparison is on "Schedule 2." It has only one excepted medical use as a anesthetic and vasoconstricting agent for head, neck, eye, mouth, throat, and nose surgeries.
Marijuana's list is a bit more extensive, however. From treating pain in almost every part of the body to helping with chemotherapy to treating depression, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, crohns disease, epilepsy and other seizure disorders, various eating disorders, migraines, as well as treating all sorts of muscle, nerve, and skeletal pains.
The uses go on and on. But because the DEA keeps halting all the official research they can keep it mislabeled.
Codeine, morphine, oxycotin, methamphetamine, and Adderall, and Ritalin all fall under "schedule 2." Xanax, Soma, Darvon, Darvocet, Valium, Ativan, Talwin, Ambien, Tramadol are all classified as "schedule 4" All these extremely addictive and dangerous drugs are all apparently less harmful than Cannabis.
Hell, Alcohol and Tobacco aren't even on the Controlled Substance Schedules! Those two alone kill hundreds of thousands every year, but are completely legal for adults to consume. And yet, Marijuana which kills no one ever and is proven medicine remains unfairly represented as one of the most addictive and deadly drugs.
Something about this doesn't seem quite right, now does it?
~END CANNABIS PROHIBITION NOW!!!~

The simple fact that legalizing cannabis may stop the destruction of rainforests and end the use of fossil fuels is, by itself, a good enough reason to legalize it.
But yet the government refuses to legalize it. Because of greed.
it was greed that outlawed it in the first place.
