Description
Edit: After further review, I've revised the context of the whole tutorial. Going forward this is now My Sculpting Kit as opposed to a Starters Kit. It made sense given that's essentially how I'd written it to begin with. In essence, I wrote from the perspective of my own sculpting rather than that of Joe somebody's causing the insurmountable feeling of hopelessness I had hoped to avoid in making this. A rather critical error for any tutorial. While the question has been redacted and the intro reworded to fit the new context, everything else remains the same. Part 2 will still continue as I've written it, each item listed will have a short but detailed description as to the potential uses of the instrument. I emphasize 'potential' because there are a vast number of uses for each one. (And as a way of covering my tokus should someone better should find an even more amazing use out of them) There will still be a 'Starter's Kit' proper in the future. What that will contain I'm not so sure, but for now all I can say is 'hold on'.
/end
This is the first of what I hope to be many more guides I'll be putting up through my course here as a sculptor. As those who've followed me long enough, I've been middling with the idea, writing bits and pieces willy-nilly, handing them off to those whom have the courage to ask. Well enough of those brave souls have heeded the call long enough for me to create a compilation (of sorts) of the best of the best. A "frequently asked questions" compilation or, as some put it, an FAQ. And its all thanks to those who did ask (because I would have no clue how to do this otherwise
As being my first, I hope that its alot less confusing to read than it was to setup. But of course, should there be a problem/issue, feedback is always welcome. I will say this: Graphics design hasn't been my forte in years. Ergo the black and white, bold ass text for everything! mentality. Just covering my bases. Perhaps they'll become prettier (even presentation worthy!) but till then information is info. I hope its to your liking
If you want more questions to be answered, hit me up with a note or a comment below! Be one of the brave whom get their questions answered! (Just don't ask me the meaning of life. srsly don't)

"What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything?" (Hitch hikers guide to the Galaxy) Between the white mice, the bar at the end of the universe, the infinite improbability drive, and a rather strong cup of tea, you come up with the answer! It's "42".(Twilight's number in the running of the leaves!) Have fun!

I love your work, so it's cool to see a few of the differences in tools I use from you. Really nice of you to take the time to photo all your work supplies for us Thanks again!

That can of Sprite seems like the most important tool of all.

Paint? I thought you didn't use paint?
I would add dissposable gloves to the list (or really clean hands). From my experience, the clay will absorb all the dust particles in your hands if you don't wear these.

Yes I don't use paint, but there's always an exception to the rule~ And plus acrylic paint is so useful on its own ^^
I actually have a very used pair of gloves on the desk (to the left). I just didn't include it on the list

That's true. And paint belongs to most of the artists' sculpting kits.
I saw them, but I missed it on the list. Thought it would be a good addition.

Cool! I'll have to save this in case I'll ever want to try my hands at sculpting.

I really like that you're answering questions like this! (particularly because your work fills me with the urge to try it myself)
This does bring up a question though... Just how does one bake a sculpture in a toaster oven? What settings do you use? I had no idea they even got hot enough to make that possible!

Ovens can be a very personal deal as not all ovens heat the same way. Often times they'll be hot spots where the spot is hotter than the rest of the oven. And of course they'll be clod spots too. To become aware of when these spots are is thru sheer trial and error. I'm either caw I set my settings to 275 degrees F. I for about 15-20 mins.
Hopefully this will help you out!
