Description
This picture shows some dwarves from various published concepts, from comics to novels and video games. I also tried to give it a more spoiler free discription. The characters from left to right are:1. Douwe Dabbert
Created by: The writer Thom Roep and illustrator Piet Wijn.
Role: Main protagonist.
Known from: A series of comics featuring his adventures.
Homeworld: Our world around the 17th/18th century.
Depicted in: His own series of comics by the same name of the character.
Little description: Douwe Dabbert is a an old drifter. Nobody knows his exact origins, as he was already an old man during his debut. Douwe calls himself a human, but because of his short stature and great white beard, he had been called a dwarf or a gnome. He carries a magical knapsack, that conjures up everthing he needs. If he is hungry, it conjures a piece of bread for example. His comics were never translated into English and my guess is about depictions that might be controversy in several countries (nudity for example). Douwe is generally a friendly old chap, but he stand up against villains if needed. As long he has his knapsack with him, he'll be safe from harm.
2. Korgan Bloodaxe
Created by: The gamestudio Bioware.
Role: Optional companion to the player's character.
Known from: The RPG game of Baldur's Gate.
Homeworld: The Forgotten Realms. (Dungeons and Dragons)
Depicted in: Baldur's Gate 2.
Little description: Korgan is a bloodthirsty dwarven mercenary. He can be recruited by the player as a companion for his quest. Korgan has a love for slaughter and gladly jumps into the fray. He also has a love for gold and hates when he has to give it away. He appeares to be quick to anger and loudmouthed. Korgan might seem as a bloodthirsty lunatic, but he is not stupid enough to go on a rampage.
3. Tungdil "Goldhand" Bolofar
Created by: The writer Markus Heitz.
Role: Main protagonist in the first two novels.
Known from: A series of novels called "The Dwarves".
Homeworld: Girdlegard.
Depicted in: "The Dwarves" novels.
Little description: Tungdil is a dwarf that is raised among the humans under the guidence of a wizard. He only knows the culture about dwarves from books. His story starts peacefully first, but then come in conflict with all kinds of things like dwarven politics, fighting orcs for survival, chased down by evil elf-like creatures and a way to stop evil for good and saving Girdleguard.
4. Yeslick Orothair
Created by: The gamestudio Bioware.
Role: Optional companion to the player's character.
Known from: The RPG game of Baldur's Gate.
Homeworld: The Forgotten Realms. (Dungeons and Dragons)
Depicted in: Baldur's Gate 1.
Little description: A wise dwarven cleric that can be rescued by the player. Yeslick is a friendly chap that can cast healing spells. He is quick to trust people, but that turned to be his downfall before his capture. Yeslick is also calm and respect people that doing good things.
5. Bardin Goreksson
Created by: The gamestudio Fatshark.
Role: A playable character.
Known from: The multiplayer co-op hack and slash game: Warhammer End Times Vermintide.
Homeworld: Warhammer Fantasy.
Depicted in: Warhammer End Times Vermintide.
Little description: Bardin is a playable character in Vermintide. Loves fighting and is stubbornly optimistic about everything. He is also a veteran that had fought a race of ratlike humanoids known as Skaven (and main enemy of the game). He sure bickers alot with his companions.

You know, Yeslick is actually the second least wise of the BG 1 party members, both in stats and in story. Who gives the keys to an iron mine to a evil-looking fella?

No Gimli... or Torbjorn (he looks like dwarf, he dwarf)?

Don’t get me wrong, both Gimli and Torb are cool as well. But this is not a ‘Top 5 list’ about favourite dwarves.

They're still iconic though.

Ironically, Tungdil is the tallest of the five.

I meant Vermintide II, but I suppose that's fair enough.

Excuse me, how come none of them are shirtless akimbo-axe wielding mohawk maniacs performing the okd ranger's trick?

By “shirtless akimbo-axe wielding mohawk maniacs”, I guess you mean the Slayers from Warhammer Fantasy? Then I have no idea. XD

Pretty good job here! I like the cartoony style, though if I were to offer a bit of critique, I'd say work a little on depth of field. The feet look rather flat on the ground.

Thanks for the critique. I have to admit that drawing feet isn't my strongest point, but I'll see what I can do.

No problem! I know drawing feet can be one of the more difficult parts. I recommend looking up some references like on Kibbitzer's page to see how they design feet in a 3D space.

Douwe Dabbert is one of my favourite characters from one of my favourite comic book series or all time.

I started reading his comics since last year and I love it! I am currently trying to get all of it's albums.

I collect the albums too. I have most of them now, even a few very old and rare editions that I had to pay way too much for. XD But I just love this series so much.

Thanks, but I do have improvised both Korgan and Yeslick, because their depictions were only known as character faceportaits and game sprites.

Welcome. That's fine. I always improvise whenever I draw characters that don't have enough references. It's all you can do.
