This was bought by you by insomnia and The Lion King musical song text book lying next to my bed (what it was doing there idk)Merlin = Zazu:
This makes total sence to me..
His tail feathers are blue btw, but only on the other side.. Kid Merlin has tail feathers, but they are short and in this picture hidden behind his legs... I am kinda happy on how he looks.
Edit: I added flaps to his tunic.. These are his wings.. He has to fly one way or another and giving him wings on the back or morphing his arms into wings looked plain stupid with this type of birdyness

Just from the fact that they used to travel together...
I wanted to give Percival Pumba's ears, but it didn't look good in my style.. Any other time he will have those ears..
I am actually working on putting all the songs in this weird universe.. So you'll see more

I agree with Lancelot a tad, but I already gave my explanation for choosing him instead of Gwaine.. Merlin will work out when you see the writing.. but I can say it's mostly because of their shared witty sarcasm

Gaius and Percival are great. Gwaine wouldn't quite do as Timon either.. he's more a pumba type as well. 
Actually Gwaine could be Pumba, Leon could be Timon.. (Apparently those actually have some fun time "squabbling" of set).
Merlin... hmm actually yeah Zazu is good, considering the fact that he and Simba are hillarious together. Though Zazu is a bit too much "grumpy grandpa"... it's like old Merlin.

I have most of the other characters established as well.. Except for Ed.. I have no idear really what to do with him.. Gilli didn't seem really smart to me, but he wasn't evil either.. (DON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SEASON 5) the same with the season 5 fake druid kid.. They weren't the sharpest tools in the shed, but not evil...
Hmmm I haven't seen the movie in a while.. I went to the musical more recently and there I think he's less a grandpa
