Description RTS - Experimental Walker Unit - UPDATED ON JUNE 26, 2008. (Added artillery units and latest Walker texture)

Different Walker Angle
Light Artillery Unit
Quad Tank


RED TEAM WALKER UNIT - Real-time Strategy Game style. (Like Supreme Commander, Total Annihilation, Command and Conquer, Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War, etc.)

Pretty much done with the texturing on this one. I could still improve it and add more color variation but I'm not sure if I'll do that.

Walker
3700 Polygons
2048x2048 Texture map
2048x2048 Normal map
1024x1024 Specular map.
128x128 Environment map.

Other Units
Tanks use a 1024x1024 texture and normal map.
Light artillery units use a 512x512 texture and normal map.

I put the models in an RTS game-like scene to give an idea of how they'd look in a game. The environment objects use fairly small textures. (128x128 for the grass texture)

Environment
I placed the rocks, pebbles and grass around using a particle system (PF Source) with some variation in terms of rotation and size.

Other
Modeling and rendering was done in 3DS Max, UV mapping in DeepUV and all texturing was done in Photoshop.

lol Now these remind me of the Scarab walkers from Halo 2, 3 and Wars. Only... four legs and less guns.

wow very impressive man, the smaller artillery inthe backround looks like a unit from an old game called Dark Reign very nice, I hope to see your whole race some day

Thanks man. I think I've even played that at some point. I was going for just a typical artillery unit though, I didn't have any game's units in mind when I made it.

Thanks. That's one one of the games that inspired me. I'm even making three levels of artillery units using a texture style symilar to one of the SupCom races.

I'd like to make a full race of RTS game units just so I can make images and animations with them.
