Description
The Bowman star system is a interesting star system in the Spinward Marches. A huge massive asteroid belt and a gas giant, it lies a mere 7 parsecs from Darrian, a human world with an interesting history. It sits in an area of space that is for the most part, undeveloped. It has been claimed in the past by 1st the Darrians, and later the Sword Worlders and is now currently considered a protectorate of the Imperium though not a part of it. It is a wild and for the most part, lawless system. A small Imperium Scout Service base is present has well has a facility run and operated by the Ling Standard Products MegaCorp. There is also a research post on one of the gas giants moons excavating an old Darrian outpost. The population of the belt is mostly made up of independent asteroid miners, aka Belters, and those who supply them with goods and services. Many Belters dream of finding an old Sword Worlder cache of Military supplies from when they occupied the system, or even better yet, an unknown and undiscovered Darrian outpost.Ben is an old retired Imperial Scout. He has an old Imperial Scout Courier which has been retired from service and converted for asteroid mining. He plies away in the belt making ends met.
Ahee is a an Aslan who ancestors sold their mercenary skills and talents to the Darrians some time back. They are now full members citizens of the Darrian Confederation. Her small group of Aslan Belters is employing Ben to help show them the ins and out of working in the Bowman system, who to trust, and who not too. She is her group engineer.
While doing some surveying of some asteroids near where her group is currently working, Ben makes a discovery. An old Darrian outpost. This is a fantastic find for even Darrian artifacts which
does not work can turn a good profit. With Ahee help, they manage to breach the post airlock. Once inside they discover that the facility is still semi-pressurize, though with an almost
pure nitrogen/argon atmosphere. The emergency systems, are also still functioning. This is good news, because it means there are stills items which are working, specifically the power generating
systems. Now if the computers are still functioning, the data stored in them could be almost priceless. The deeper they travel in the facility the more they are amazed at the craftsmanship. Lights turn on, doors open and close, control panels lights up. Ahee is so excited that she keeps drifting off into Darrian when she speaks, forcing Ben to chuckle and remind her that his Darrian is very limited compared to her own knowledge of the Imperial tongue. It is clear that they have found a real treasure trove of Darrian artifacts.
Their excitement dims when in a hold they find a collection of cryo pods. It seems the post personal must have decided to wait out the delay of their supply ships in long sleep. Sadly, though not surprising, all of the pods show system failures and the people within, dead. It has after all been 2000 years since the Maghiz, the disaster that all but distroyed their civiliation.
At last they find the computer core but what they find there is not what they are expecting.
Ahee: Hat ook not be trreasurrre, but notheer boody.
Ben: You right there Ahee. It's a woman. Like the others we found she must have placed herself into cryo when the supply ships quit showing up and the supplies ran low.
Ahee: Mocks ssensse. Figurre shee sleep hile aiting or resscue. Noo ay kno non ould sho. Daring time of Maghiz, hee chaoss caused ii Tarrniss flaree, many recodss losst, lacess ike thiss forgetten.
Ben: I don't know why she's in here, but she did not die in peace.
Ahee: Hat meean u?
Ben: I admit my Darrian is not very good, but if I'm reading these controls correctly, This unit is not only still actively functioning, it says she's still alive.

Intresting composition, but why table-like-computers are so much darker than walls and floor?
