Tutorial: How to draw a face...The BasicsWell, here is the promised tutorial.
I used the drawing 'I am not a Hero' as example in this tutorial.
The finished piece can be found here:In this tutorial I show you how I drew his face.
It took hours to make this tutorial. But I hope I can help people with it
And I hope I explained it well.Maybe I will make more tutorials like these, for the hair...or shading...or something.

yes ... it's great but the morphology of human faces are not all the same, there are those who have eyes closer

Nice tutorial. And it's good for a nice symmetrical face.
Although it doesn't seem to give much room for diversity.
Many faces are flawed, e.g. the eyes are too close or the mouth is rather small.
Although it is a very good tutorial for anyone who's learning how to do faces for the first time.

I was just wondering what kind of scanner you use? Whenever I scan in my pictures, the quality is NEVER as good as this!

And I thought I was weird for sometimes drawing the eyes before anything else, But I guess when it comes down to it - there are several ways to the same goal, and you focused on all that matters which is proportions, the shading is then really up to the artist

Nice job! You've explained the various proportions perfectly! It might be cool to do a follow up tutorial where you showed how you shaded/ created the textures so magnificently, because (for me at least) that is by far the most impressive part of your work!

you're rules are a bit off, according to Nathan Fowkes. You should look him up. Drawing the face isn't just about the features, it's about the structure of the whole head. You were close, though.

I'm so excited for this--I have a face ready to sketch for a friend who was my assistant this summer, and I was going to ask my artist friend this week when I visit her, but this will give me a chance to begin and learn.
