The Predestination of Frida. I believe in predestination. Therefore in this painting, I am showing Frida Kahlo's birth year and her year of death being delivered to her by a black bird. To me the bird symbolizes the soul. I also like the fact that if you cover up the right side of Fridas face you will see her as young, and if you cover up the left side you will see her in her older years. The ribbon is symbolic of the almost strangulating pain and emotional anguish that she endured.I admire Frida. She accepted her destiny with integrity and courage.

I love this work with my whole heart. I love the marriage between Frida's style and yours, I love how consciously you worked with symbols. And I love the idea the most. Not only the mood of the painting, not only the colours, but the ribbons and the title of the painting (its font and its place) show great knowledge about Frida's art, and you also managed to build in your own vision, your own interpretation. I can see how much Frida and her painting means to you. Though, I fail to see the real difference between the young and the older Frida - apart from her hair and her eyes. I know it's there, I can FEEL it, but I can't SEE it. Then again, it may be better this way, that it's not too obvious. Anyway, I am in love!
