obviously, it was considering there were no kids in the show even before Pebbles and Bam-Bam were born.

The first three seasons of the show were a sitcom, aimed towards an adult audience, but as more kids tuned in to watch, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera decided to soften it and create Pebbles with a tie in with Ideal Toys for a Pebbles doll, and other companies followed with more merchandise. Thus the show became more wholesome and family friendly.
During the first 2 seasons of the show there were animated commercials for vitamins, anti-acids and even cigarettes.
