Description
Made for the annual coloring book page contest.My first entry is from Hercules, the hero with his trainer Phil. I tried to paint the page as it was a roman fresco painting done recently.
I looked at several ancient Roman frescoes and the HBO series Rome for their historical accuracy in the sets, which also have paintings on walls.

There are lots of ancient roman artworks depicting Hercules, not just Greek ones, but I decided to give him a Greek look based on the Hercules played by actor Brian Johnson in the Hallmark movie Jason And The Argonauts, while trying to emulate the roman painting style.

Well Hercules IS his Roman name. Heracles is his Greek name.

Awww, Herc and Phil! <333 They had such a great dynamic as trainer and apprentice and it's great to see some pictures of them together. I can tell you're very interested in Ancient Rome from this and the other picture you submitted-- it was a very fascinating city!
I really love how you modified the colouring page to make the scene more true to the time period, like giving Herc a beard and changing his toga to show off more of his muscles. His features look very Greek, which was what you were going for! The texture is to die for as well-- it really ties together the fresco theme.

Yes I wanted his look more Greek, even if the inspiration was the ancient Roman paintings and frescoes. The ancient Romans did a lot of pieces on Hercules, I was surprised they liked him so much.

Herc looks hot as a bearded roman. You did a great job with romanizing the pic. Herc should now deal with obelix.
