Description
This is the outline of my latest submission, this Corvette C6 . As you can see, I made some parts as the top or the bonnet using nearly exclusively gradient mesh. On the other hand, other parts like the tires were based on shape blendings.Related content

best part of the finished product is the tires in my opinion

Thank you! I agree The front wheel was the last part I made. At that stage I was somehow tired, but I wanted to finish it properly. The tires were really hard, so I had to use a huge amount of zoom. And they look good now at normal size

wow, this just shows how much detail you put into that submition, like I said on the finished product, truly amazing. . .

This demonstrates that it is pure vector Thank you again.

Awesome job As for the other person's comments, I'd say the fun lies in the challenge doing things differently. I admire that

Yes, correcting some photo artifacts in the vectorial version and seeing the resulting clean lines is also very funny Thank you!!

man, i don't understand a sh*#@$t about vector, but the corvete pic is awesome, it really looks like a real model, quite realistic, bealtifull, outstanding, gourgeous, nad all that stuff, congrats ^^

Seems to me that if you've gone to this much trouble you could just as easily have created a fully 3D model, but then I'm probably bias

thats like telling a portrait painter to rather take a photograph. how stupid.

Yes, more or less, that's the idea

If they painted to a photographic standard, I would say it to them. I don't see the point of verbatantly reproducing something to such fine detail with more effort than is necessary, it's not like there isn't a much quicker alternative to hand, like in the days before photography or high-quality 3D rendering alike. Just my opinion

A very detailed vectorial image can be enlarged with no pixelation. So those vectorizations are great as large ads and things like that. A 3d render can also be useful, but sometimes it can be more time consuming (the programs are more expensive and the rendering time can be high!). Anyway, creating a nice and detailed vector image is a good way to show your Illustrator skills.

Fair enough, but the voxels/vexels thing includes some rendered/bitmap parts, and thus would require those to be re-rendered for larger images. Also if someone then wants a slightly different angle the whole thing would effectively have to be made again from scratch.

The gradient mesh is, in fact, a raster effect. It is quickly recalculated, but at huge sizes can lead to some banding effects.
And yes, if you want to change the angle of a vector image... you have a BIG problem, hehe

Maybe it was a similar effort. But i didn't have enough views of the car as to make a good 3 model. Anyway, I wanted to create something vectorial this time

I don't know why, but for some reason I thought I was looking at dangeruss' gallery! I think dA served me the wrong gallery as it was under his page title, weird! Anyway my comment still stands. Looks good though

Hehe, dangeruss has some of the best 3d car models I have ever seen, while I'm not a 3d art expert (not yet!).

From what I gather his are not 3D either, mainly vector. He only does the tyres and interior in 3D.

Oh yeah, I saw a few of those now that I look in the gallery list mode; I couldn't be bothered looking at every deviation in thumb mode to see how they were made so missed the rendered ones They do look good.
