Here is the most recent part of The New Clans. Its also the final part of this chapter. Chapter 5 will be up soon so look forward to that ^^ Also, as you can see Wolfpatch's design has had a major change... I don't particularly care what you think about since if I had gone with his regular design he would have looked majorly out of place next to Phoenixstep ^^

Anyway, so I know a lot of you dislike the fact that the comic is discontinued... But lets be honest folks, haven't we gotten a ton more information this way compared to the comic way? Plus it would have taken me, being completely honest here, over a year or two to pack this much information in to a chapter of a comic book ^^

Dawn broke the darkness of night as Wolfpatch stirred in his spot within the alley. His golden eyes opened groggily to catch sight of Swanfeather awake at the edge of the group. She stared out into the two-leg territory with distant eyes. The blue-gray tom watched her for a while, taking in the sight of her sad countenance. For the most part, Wolfpatch knew nothing about the proud Shadowclan warrior. In fact, he knew pretty much nothing about anyone in his entire group. They all looked to him as if he were the leader and despite the mixed feelings he had, he actually liked being looked up to.

However he still had little to no experience in leading a clan of his own. Despite that everyone felt loyal to their old clans, Wolfpatch felt as if they were a new clan all to themselves. He didn’t feel as though they should cling to their former loyalties, but instead they should embrace the hand they had been dealt.

On the edge of his vision he saw Swanfeather turn to look at him. He glanced back at her and saw the she-cat dip her head in greeting. With a sigh, Wolfpatch stood and stretched his limbs to get ready for the travel they were going to need to do. He wasn’t sure how long it would take them to get through the two-leg territory, but he did know that they were going to be here for a long time. Yet with Ryan leading them, Wolfpatch was sure that they would make it through without much of a problem.

“We might as well wake everyone else,” Wolfpatch mewed to Swanfeather. She still only replied with a nod and stood. Tigerlily and Ghostclaw slept along the wall in the alley and were shifting at the sound of voices. Phoenixstep was nowhere to be seen and Wolfpatch glanced around to check if he had missed the tom.

Swanfeather sensed his question and mewed, “He left earlier to do something. He didn’t tell me what though.”

Wolfpatch felt a twinge inside his stomach at the young medicine cat’s stubborn and indifferent attitude toward Wolfpatch’s leadership. A dark emotion welled within the blue-gray tom toward Phoenixstep, though he wasn’t quite sure what it was. He knew that if he had not been assumed the leader, Phoenixstep would have been. The others needed a strong personality to show them where their future led, the former Riverclan medicine cat was certainly a strong personality. However, in Wolfpatch’s opinion, he wasn’t what the group needed to survive.

A bit of pride filled the tom’s chest at the thought that was indeed the one they needed. So far things had gone well and he figured it was because of how well he lead the group. Now if only he could convince the rest of them of this way of thinking.

Where Tigerlily and Ghostclaw had been sleeping, the two rose and stretched their tired limbs. Wolfpatch grinned at them and called out, “Good morning you two! Ready for another day?”

Tigerlily shot him a dirty sneer but Ghostclaw returned Wolfpatch’s smile with a grin of his own. From outside the alley paw steps sounded and the image of Phoenixstep appeared.

He stared at Wolfpatch with those dark, unwavering blue eyes and mewed, “Well, good to see you all up. I scouted ahead and guess what I saw?” The tom’s question and expression were sarcastic enough to warn Wolfpatch not to answer him.

Yet from where he stood, Ghostclaw chirped up, “What? What did you see?”

Phoenixstep turned his gaze toward the tom and snipped, “More two leg buildings…”

Ghostclaw tilted his head to the side, “What’s so special about that?”

“Nothing, that’s the problem,” Phoenixstep retorted. Ghostclaw flinched a little at the sarcastic answer. Wolfpatch merely shook his head at the Windclan cat’s trusting and innocent nature. Eventually he would learn not to be so quick to be verbally abused by Phoenixstep.

Beside him, Ryan awoke and stretched himself. With a lazy grin he called out to the group, “Good morning all. Who wants breakfast?” All eyes turned to him expectantly. “Well then, what are you waiting for? You guys are the hunters, go and hunt.”

At the edge of Wolfpatch’s vision he saw Tigerlily shake her head in exasperation. He couldn’t help feeling the same as she did. He secretly wished he could be so bold as to speak his mind the way Tigerlily and Phoenixstep did. They didn’t care what the others thought about their speech or actions. They were who they were. However he had to be the benevolent leader, the one to make all the right calls and do the right thing. Yet here he was, jealous and prideful beyond what he should be.

“We didn’t have much luck yesterday so it’s probably not going to be much better today,” Wolfpatch chuckled awkwardly.

Ryan shrugged his shoulders, “Well if you guys weren’t so picky we could find a nice trash can somewhere and feast.”

Swanfeather looked incredulously at the city cat, “Are you kidding?! Eat two-leg crow-food? Not even if I was starving!”

“You might very well be by the time we get you to the other side of the city,” Ryan snickered.

“Alright that’s enough you two,” Wolfpatch sighed in irritation, “We don’t have much choice in the matter. We can act high and mighty when we get out of here but for now we need to humble ourselves and eat what we have to in order to survive.”

Swanfeather let out a snort of disgust, “Have you no pride in the warrior code?”

Wolfpatch bristled at her but kept his voice even, “There are times when we need to do what we must to survive and keep the code alive. If we starve before we can restart the clans then the code is truly dead.”

From where he sat, Phoenixstep said in a flat voice, “Do you honestly think we can restart the clans? None of us are loyal to each other. By the time we find a place to settle down in, we will all be arguing about whose clan we start first. There will be disputes and fighting, plus we will need to find rogues, loners or kittypets to restock our numbers. You all speak of the code but you don’t want to really think about what task lies ahead of us in order to restore it.” He turned his head away in disappointment at the rest of the survivors.

Wolfpatch felt anger welling in his stomach. He hadn’t really thought about what it would take to rebuild one clan, let alone all four. He guessed he had just assumed that he would be building a clan of his own to glory and yet he had others in his party were thinking the same about their former clans. At that very moment Wolfpatch felt hate for Phoenixstep, the sarcastic ginger tom thought he was so much better than Wolfpatch just because he was medicine cat.

The large gray-blue tom flicked his tail back and forth in irritation, “Who said we were going to rebuild the old clans?” All eyes turned to him with shock but also with interest. Wolfpatch grinned inwardly. He had their attention now and he wasn’t about to let it go back to Phoenixstep, “No, the lakeside clans are gone now. I think Starclan led us down this path to show us that we need to take the future in to our own paws. Create new clans and thrive.” The large tom puffed out his chest in triumph at the idea. Yet he saw Phoenixstep’s dark unwavering eyes glare at him from under his brows.

A sneer tugged at the medicine cat’s face as he snarled darkly, “And you think Starclan called you to be our leader? The fearless Wolfpatch, or should we all bow before you and call you Wolfstar?” A small snicker rose from Tigerlily not to far while Swanfeather bristled in horror. Ghostclaw looked to be caught between fear wide eyes and an awkward smile to mask his feelings.

Wolfpatch felt embarrassment seep through his viens, “I never said that!” His lashed his tail sideways, he knew Phoenixstep needed to be put in his place and yet he had Starclan on his side. The former Thunderclan tom knew it wasn’t wise to attack a medicine cat, but they weren’t under to the old rules anymore. With the clans gone they needed to come up with new rules. Putting on a mask of only mild irritation, Wolfpatch stood up straighter and turned away, “I was merely saying that it would be unwise for all of us to separate and take on whole clans of our own. Its better for us to make one new, unified clan.”

“Those were the words of the ancient Tigerstar,” Phoenixstep replied lowly.

“Those are only stories Phoenixstep,” Wolfpatch argued, “Legends and nothing more. The stories of the great Firestar are only kit’s tales.”

“Legends are born of some small truth at least. Don’t doubt in the tale of Tigerstar,” Phoenixstep turned away and made his way to the end of the alley. The rest of the group looked on at their leader with doubtful eyes and turned to follow Phoenixstep from the alley.

“Whoa, boy do you folks have some issues,” Ryan laughed as he sauntered away.

A dark feeling overtook Wolfpatch as they all turned away. His mind grew distant as a tantalizing power took hold of him. He consciousness was lulled in to sleep for a moment as he eyes grew dark around the edges and his amber irises turned a dark shade of garnet red. His fangs protruded from his mouth and a somber look overcame his face.

A new voice, sounding similar to Wolfpatch’s but distinctly its own whispered with malice, “This isn’t over, puppet of the dead. Not by a long shot.” A twisted grin pulled at Wolfpatch’s face and his eyes grew increasingly cruel. Yet before his absence from the group was noted, Wolfpatch came back to his own mind with no memory of what had just happened. He shook his head softly but refused to let go of his discontent as he followed the rest of the survivors away.
