Once again I apologize for any grammatical/spelling errors ^^

Anywho, here is our first look at Tigerlily in her new design, not much changed ^^ Just gave her an extra layer on her paw markings. Also we once again see Pheo, the star of the last two pictures... I like him, deal with it XD Anyway, enjoy this next part!

The sun moved overhead through the sky until it blazed a dark orange red, signaling the end of the day. The small group of survivors had traveled for hours, barely resting. They stopped to hunt only once, but without success. With bellies rumbling they settled in a dark alley, well within the city. Ryan insisted on continuing to talk as they moved to make beds for the night.

Tigerlily sat near a large round metal cylinder that smelled of crow-food and rot. Ghostclaw was not to far from her, keeping up their unspoken understanding. They never left each other’s sights for long. They had to stick together. He was all she had left. Being the older of the two littermates, Tigerlily acted as the more mature and stronger sibling but to be honest she was probably more scared than Ghostclaw was. She didn’t want to be here. She would have rather been curled up inside her soft bed moss with her brother curled up beside her and her parents breathing softly across the den. However that was a dream that could never be relived. Instead she was here with four strangers and only her brother to keep her sane.

With a glance the she-cat caught sight of Wolfpatch settling down in to his bed with Ryan pestering him with ramblings of no importance. She had to admire the tom’s strength. He had managed to get the rest of the group out of the lakeside territories and kept them alive thus far. He didn’t have a leader’s name but he was the closest thing they had to one. Wolfpatch was the oldest and the most seasoned warrior of the group. Despite that though, he still hesitated in his resolve as their leader.

If Tigerlily was in his place she wasn’t sure if she could handle it. She had only been made a warrior a few short days before the tragedy had struck. Being such a young warrior didn’t help her confidence much now that she was without a clan to help her grow. Then again, her clan wasn't exactly too fond of helping her anyway. She had had friends among the clan but most treated her with indifference. Her father, Icepath had joined Windclan before she was born but his blood still flowed with Shadowclan influence.

A soft voice sounded beside the brown tabby, snapping her out of her musings, “Tigerlily, didn’t you hear me?” The former Windclan warrior turned to see her brother giving her a slightly worried look.

“Uh…” she started.

“You weren’t listening to me were you?” Ghostclaw’s face pulled in to one of mock hurt. His green eyes glinted with a hint of playfulness. She had to give the tom some credit. He always managed to make her smile. She always had a soft spot for her brother, if he asked her for the moon, she could have climbed the tallest tree to try and get it for him and knew he would do the same for her.

“Guess not you big fur ball,” she teased him. A grin pulled at the silver cat’s mouth and he flicked his long thin tail back and forth. Tigerlily had always been a bit jealous of Ghostclaw’s physical form. He had inherited the Windclan traits from their mother while she looked like her father, a Shadowclan warrior. Ghostclaw’s long legs had him looking down at everyone, even Wolfpatch. Despite the slight envy she was glad at least that one of them looked like their mother. It was like she was still with them, even now.

“Phoenixstep and Swanfeather think it might be a good idea to go hunting again,” he purred.

“What makes them think there will be anything more this time?”

Ghostclaw merely shrugged his shoulders, “Dunno… Still it might be good to get some sort of food in our bellies.”

Tigerlily tilted her head to the side, “Let me guess… You want to go with them?” A sheepish grin appeared on the tom’s face. Tigerlily narrowed her eyes, “I don’t think it’s a good idea. Something bad could happen.”

Ghostclaw’s lip began to tremble and his eyes grew wider, “B-but Tigerlily… We need food.” His ears drooped and he quirked his head to the side giving her that endearing look that let him always get his way.

Yet Tigerlily was resolute, “No. Not tonight. You and I can go hunting in the morning. It’s not a good idea for us to be wandering around in the dark in a place we don’t know.”

Ghostclaw frowned at her and sat down, “Spoil-sport…”

“You’ll thank me later,” was Tigerlily’s only response.

With a sorrowful look Ghostclaw settled down and muttered, “Now’s later and I’m still hungry… Thanks a lot.”

The tabby she-cat cast a look in Phoenixstep’s direction. The tom was sitting close to Swanfeather, talking in a hushed tone. His eyes focused intensely on the side of the gold and white she-cat’s face. He gently touched her cheek with his paw and she flinched away. Tigerlily felt the pit of her stomach drop and grow cold. It was her fault that there was a scar on the side of Swanfeather‘s face. Though, try as she may, Tigerlily couldn’t remember what happened. When she tried to recall what made her jump at the other warrior, the only thing she could see was a haze of dark purple and the feelings of despair and rage.

The moment Swanfeather began to insult her mother, Tigerlily had felt something deep within her begin to boil. Anger and pain had flooded through her and though she tried to resist something had snapped. The next thing she remembered was being hit from the side and landing harshly on the ground. Her claws had been wet with warm blood and fear was on everyone’s faces, even Ghostclaw’s.

The she-cat didn’t want anyone to look at her that way again but whatever had caused it was still there. She didn’t know if she had unleashed something completely or if there was still something holding that passion and rage back.

She knew she had to apologize to Swanfeather somehow but whatever she thought of didn’t seem to fit right. How could she just stroll up to the Shadowclan warrior and say, ‘Hey Swanfeather, nice weather huh? Oh by the way sorry about flying off the handle and scarring your face forever. I didn’t mean it really, just couldn’t control myself is all. So we’re good right?’ Even if Tigerlily didn’t run the scenario in her head sarcastically, there was really nothing she could say that would make a difference.

A soft glint caught Tigerlily’s eye for a moment. It was Phoenixstep turning those dark blue eyes of his toward her. He sat passively enough but his dark eyes peered straight in to her light blue ones. Tigerlily felt her face flush for a moment but only from the awkward embarrassment of meeting another’s gaze for such an extended time.

What did the tom want? Didn’t she have a right to just look over there? Why did she feel his gaze judging her down to her very core? Tigerlily didn’t like the way he was staring at her so she sneered at him and turned away. She figured he would think she was some sort of delinquent and go back to his business. However she felt his gaze on her fur and she fidgeted. Opening one eye and looking back at him she saw that was wasn’t actually looking at her anymore. Instead he was back to talking to Swanfeather. Was his gaze just in her imagination? Tigerlily felt foolish for having thought that he was still looking at her.

From his spot across the alley Ryan was still mewing away in their leader’s ear. “Would you please be quiet Ryan? I need a bit of sleep before we move out tomorrow, not that listening to you hasn’t been fascinating,” Wolfpatch said diplomatically in his deep resonating voice.

“Hold on, I was just getting to the best part,” Ryan said with an audible smile.

Tigerlily rolled her eyes before turning to look at Wolfpatch. “Hey Ryan,” she growled knowing someone had to save the poor tom, “Would you shut up already? We’ve been traveling for a while and with all that’s going on here in Los-whatever, we need some time without your constant dribble.”

Ryan tossed her a confused and slightly hurt look. Wolfpatch on the other hand however sent her a grateful grin. Tigerlily didn’t smile back but she let the warm feeling at the praise in his smile seep in.

Ghostclaw flicked her flank with a disapproving frown and murmured, “That was harsh Tigerlily, what’s gotten in to you lately?”

Tigerlily didn’t like being chastised by her brother but she knew her reputation amongst the other members of the group. They thought her to be the outspoken half-breed snot from Windclan. She had figured that their image of her wouldn’t be changed much if she at least spoke up to save Wolfpatch from a bit of suffering, it had almost been expected, if not by her then by Phoenixstep.

Tigerlily frowned at her brother and hissed softly, “No reason… Just go to sleep and don’t worry about it.”

Yet Ghostclaw didn’t go to sleep, he lifted his head and frowned deeper, “There has to be a reason and I want you to tell me.”

“Our parents are dead!” Tigerlily snarled louder than she had intended. All eyes turned to the siblings. Tigerlily flattened her ears and glared at the rest of the group. She hated the way they were looking at her, pity and judgment appeared in each of their eyes. The she-cat bristled at them and snarled, “You guys don’t want to talk about it but our family and friends are dead! We’re on our own now without any sign from Starclan and we all know it!”

Phoenixstep shifted on the edge of Tigerlily’s vision causing her blue eyes to lock on to his dark ones. Once again it felt like he was peering right in to her soul, right down to the darkest part of her being. With a hiss the she-cat stood and stamped out of the alley.

“Where are you going?” Phoenixstep asked as she moved past him.

“Hunting.”
