Sorry for changing the style from the last picture, but I will probably do that often. I am a fickle person X3 Believe me, Pheo looked horrible in the style I was using before... Anyway, I used Jedi Pheo's design... Dont judge me! D8< Just kidding ;D Gave Swanie an update as well ^^ Enjoy! Sorry for any grammar/spelling errors!

The group moved along the streets, no one saying a word except Ryan. The tom insistently called back to the rest of the group telling them about each and every street they walked on. Phoenixstep didn’t focus on the strange tom’s words however. He kept his mind on thoughts of his dreams. He didn’t remember much other than the gut feeling that he couldn’t trust Wolfpatch. He also knew that he had to talk to Swanfeather, however the subject of the questions eluded him.

Ahead of him, Ryan walked side by side with Wolfpatch, pestering the large blue-gray tom with his ramblings. Just behind him walked Ghostclaw and Tigerlily. The two were almost never out of each other’s sights, and when they were it was never for a long length of time. Phoenixstep felt envy at having someone, anyone from their past lives with whom he could trust and relax. Yet he was alone in this group. Not only because he was the only Riverclan survivor, but because he was the only medicine cat as well. The circumstances for his apprenticeship always seemed like a blur to him.

Phoenixstep had never really felt like he was medicine cat material. Sure, he knew the herbs and treatments but he never truly wanted to be who he was. Neither had his father, Redfang. He thought back to that night, his terrified scream, his father’s claws glinting in the lightning. He had never been more frightened in his life, not even after his whole clan had died.

“Phoenixstep, why are you slowing down?” Swanfeather’s voice sounded behind him. The ginger tom looked back to see that she was nearly next to him now. She had taken the last spot of the small group by bringing up the rear. Phoenixstep had fallen behind because his thoughts had carried him away from reality.

“Uh,” the medicine cat started lamely, “I… I was just thinking. What do you care?” He lifted a brow at her, feeling foolish for falling behind. The gold and white she cat narrowed her eyes at him but said nothing. A harsh sigh passed from Phoenixstep’s mouth, “Look, I didn’t mean to snap. Just got my mind on a lot lately.”

“Don’t we all?” Swanfeather quipped.

“I suppose,” Phoenixstep replied. A silence stretched between the two for a while. How was he going to bring up his question for her? What really was the question he was supposed to ask? Phoenixstep couldn’t remember.

Swanfeather sensed the medicine cat tensing beside her. She cast a quick glance in his direction, “Are you alright?” When he didn’t immediately reply she asked another question, “Have you really not had any dreams from Starclan lately?”

Phoenixstep’s eyes flashed toward hers. Their gazes locked but Phoenixstep couldn’t answer right away. Swanfeather was the only one that really knew about the prophecy that he had received. He didn’t know why he had only told her, but when he had walked in to Thunderclan he had gotten the same feeling then that he did now. He couldn’t tell Wolfpatch their destiny, and he didn’t know why. It was nice, however, that only one other cat knew of the prophecy. Keeping a tight lid upon what lay before them seemed like the right thing to do. Plus, Swanfeather really wasn’t on good terms with anyone else. Who would really want to talk to her anyway?

“Well,” Phoenixstep started in reply to Swanfeather’s question, “I don’t really know… I think I may have had a really important dream last night but I can’t remember what I was supposed to learn from it.”

Swanfeather tilted her head to the side, “Was Starclan unclear in their directions?”

Phoenixstep gave her a sarcastic look, “This is Starclan we’re talking about. When are they ever clear?”

A chuckle escaped Swanfeather’s lips, “You’re right, how could I forget?” She looked forward with a small grin on her face, “My sister used to have the same sort of problem.”

A twinge in Phoenixstep’s stomach made him pay close attention to the she-cat’s words.

“She used to come back from the Moonpool and say, ‘I don’t understand why Starclan has to be so cryptic all the time. If they want something done, they should just say what it is and have done with it,’” said the gold and white she cat as they moved on. “Of course, she wouldn’t tell me what they said…”

Something clicked inside Phoenixstep’s mind. He couldn’t stop the question as it forced its way from his mouth, “Viperpaw?”

Swanfeather stopped dead in her tracks. Her green eyes grew wide and shock appeared on her face, “How do you know that name?”

Phoenixstep was struck dumb. He couldn’t explain how he knew it, he just did.

Swanfeather pushed her face dangerously close to his. Her voice dropped in to threatening tones, “How do you know that name?”

Phoenixstep bristled at the she-cat, “I can’t explain it. Who is she?”

Swanfeather narrowed her eyes, “She was the sister I talked about. She died when she was about seven moons old.” The she cat turned away, pain and grief replacing her anger. Phoenixstep lowered his hackles in response. He had not realized that Viperpaw was such a touchy subject.

Softly, Phoenixstep asked, “What happened to her?”

Swanfeather didn’t immediately respond, instead she took a few steps away from the medicine cat. With a glazed look in her eye, she turned and stared deeply in to Phoenixstep’s dark eyes, “Don’t ask me that question right now… Maybe someday I will be willing to tell you, but not now.” With that she turned and padded away to catch up with the rest of the group.

Ryan had led the others across two other Thunderpaths before Phoenixstep and Swanfeather had resumed their march. Trying to catch up, the Shadowclan and Riverclan cats dashed across each street. As they crossed the final Thunerpath that distanced them from the group, Ryan was walking out in to the middle of another. Happily, he flicked his tail back and forth with no problem.

It made Phoenixstep uneasy at how carelessly the brown tom strode across the black surface of each street. There was no telling if a two-leg monster was going to come racing out behind a hidden corner. Yet the city cat didn’t seem worried in the least. The ginger medicine cat couldn’t help the horrible gut feeling that now too over him. There was danger in this place, too much for this small band to deal with. The group of survivors was not going to come out of this without some sort of sorrow to accompany them for the rest of their lives.
