Description
After a spell of cold days, today was actually pretty warm. Zosia wanted to enjoy this day, and as she worked hard for the past few days hunting and helping ensure the pack was fed especially with winter on the horizon, Zosia decided to take the day to relax - perhaps sit on the warm stones or go up to the hot springs. Warm stones to start sounded good while the day was warmest - it was likely going to be the last warm day for a while.

Zosia relaxed on the sun-warmed rock. On her tail preening his feathers was Wick. He often followed Zosia around when she wasn't hunting, and the two would chat. The little bird would still fuss over her scars despite that happening a long time ago. At least what felt like a while ago. But most of the time they just talked about what they were doing for the day. Aside from being potentially targeted for a snack, Wick's life sounded pretty good. Zosia wondered what it would be like to be a bird minus the fear of being hunted.

However, their chat was suddenly interrupted by a surprised sound from Wick and him flying away, and a set of small teeth biting down hard on Zosia's tail.

"OW!" Zosia screamed. Maybe it didn't hurt that bad but whoever just bit her tail had sharp teeth! Zosia looked over to see Randale, still latched on to her tail watching as Wick flew over to a cliffside where the pup could not climb. Wick was yelling down at Randale.

"I'm a friend, a friend!" Wick said, "Don't hunt me, don't hunt me!"

Randale let go. thankfully Zosia's tail wasn't bleeding but she sighed.

"Randale, bud. You can't be biting my tail like that." Zosia said.

"I wasn't aiming for your tail, big sister, i was trying to get the bird. Can you help me catch the bird?" Randale asked, staring at Wick.

"Catch the- oh, no!" Zosia said, "I can't do that. Not this bird. He's a friend."

"A friend? but birds are food and you can reach him, i don't understand!" Randale said.

"That's Wick." Zosia said "He's a friend of mine i've known since i was young. Dad knows him too, Wick's allowed to come visit freely without fear of being hunted." Zosia said, "Besides, birds are not worth hunting a lot of the time. They can fly away and if i tried to catch Wick for you, he would fly away because he's already alert." Zosia did not expect Randale to get all this, but she did want him to know that Wick was a friend and not food.

"That doesn't make sense, can't you sneak up on them?" Randale asked.

"You could, but you have to be quick or they will fly into a tree. I don't know any wolves that can climb trees." Zosia said. "But you can't sneak up and catch Wick, you'll know who he is because he usually sticks with me."

"Okay. I understand." Randale said "Wick is a friend. I'm sorry for trying to eat you, Wick."

Wick just kind of nodded. Zosia smiled at Randale.

"Maybe later i can teach you how to hunt small critters like mice, how's that sound?"

Randale's eyes lit up. "Really? That sounds like fun! I wanna do that!"

"Well, if you wanna do that, why dont you go find mom or dad and ask them if you can go with me to practice some hunting." Zosia said. Randale ran off to do just that. Zosia giggled.

"I'm going back to my nest, later Zosia..." Wick said, flying off. Zosia bid him farewell as well before she began to follow Randale. She was glad he didn't make too much of a fuss about not hunting Wick, as he is a spitfire a lot of the time.

While sunning on the warm stones, Zosia gets a rude surprise - her younger brother chomping on her tail at a failed attempt to try and catch Wick as a snack. Zosia tells him that Wick is a friend not to be hunted, and promises him that she will take him to practice hunting mice instead.

In which Randale learns that birds are not worth hunting... and that hunting Wick is probably not a good idea. I had this in my files for... idk how long. Farkas was originally gonna be involved but i lined his sketch and he looked awful so i removed him lol.
