Description
The false dogger is a kind of tasmanian devil which has evolved to mimic the shape and coloration of the dogger {although a person could easily tell the difference between the two, they are able to fool doggers much of the time.} While they eat the same prey, they cannot quite climb with the dexterity of a dogger and lack their sickle-shaped claws. This also renders them helpless against any larger predator who would eat them {even for a tazzy devil descendant, many predatory animals are far stronger and scarier than them.}To remedy this, a mated pair of false doggers will study the behavior of a dogger pack from afar, learning their habits, vocalizations, and body language. When they have sufficient knowledge they will sneak in during the night and attempt to establish themselves into the group without being noticed. Part of the way they do this is by having a similar scent to a false dogger, but the main adaptation is by both appearing to be male and showing submissive gestures when a dogger gets suspicious {so that the pack will be more likely to accept them in the morning.}
If this strategy works, the false doggers will take advantage of the protection and food the pack provides {while still helping out by bringing smaller prey to eat on occasion.} False doggers even give birth to offspring at the same time as a dogger will. The parents will raise their pup amongst the safety of the true doggers, however once it has reached maturity it will wander off to find a mate to begin the process all over again.
